    Gerrard injury update

Steven Gerrard faces a race against time to be ready for next week's Champions League qualifier against Standard Liege after limping out of the 4-1 friendly win over Valerenga with a thigh strain.
Boss Rafa Benitez is hopeful his skipper will be fit for the trip to Belgium next midweek, though an early diagnosis of seven days on the sidelines means it will be a close call.

"It is a thigh strain. We need to wait but it could be one week," the Spaniard told Liverpoolfc.tv.

Despite the worry over his captain, Benitez revealed his starting XI in next week's third qualifying round is likely to be similar to that which took to the pitch in Norway on Tuesday night.

"It is close to the team for next week,
" he said. "We have some players at the Olympic Games, so we used some young players and they showed quality. But maybe we will see the majority of the players we used in the first half."

I am hoping we don't need him to beat Standard Liege. Just get him fit for the Sunderland game. We need to start the league off with a win.
Jellyfish are 97% water or something, so how much are they doing? Just give them another 3% and make them water. It's more useful

Thigh strain, better than the groin though eh, would've been harsh on us to start the season, this season, without Stevie fit, hope he's back for kick off.

As is said in above posts, we shouldn't need him for the qualifier, so just make sure he's right for Sunderland and onwards is all.

Good little vid this, of everything Gerrard is.

It shows just how quickly a season can go wrong. Rafa has assembled a team capable of challenging. Keane and Dossena are excellent additions, Agger is back and fit again. We should be a lot better than last year. But one or two ill-timed injuries and we'll struggle to stay close.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

With Babel, Mascher and Lucas away for a few weeks we desperately need Gerrard fit

This was my point about £18m on Barry. An injury to Gerrard or Torres and we're ****ed

no big deal losing gerard to injury. with keane playing the role just behind torres we have cover there. and with plessis looking more than capable of filling in a few games this season alongside alonso we'll be fine till gerard gets fit and lucas/mash get back from ****ing waste of ****ing time ****e olympics.

Despite all the centre midfielders we have we could have problems for Standard Liege game, if Gerrard's out, Mascherano and Lucas at the Olympics, Barry if he signs wouldn't be registered in time to play, which means we have to play Alonso regardless of if we are wanting to sell him or not
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
