    Olympic Football

Barca, Werder Bremen and Schalke have won their case in refusing to release Messi, Diego and Rafinha for the Olympic Games - they may have won the battle, but will they now have 3 unhappy players on their books??

It's probably too late now as he has already released the players.

It wouldn't look very good if he tried to go back on his word now not to mention that it'd probably really piss off the respective players as well.

We should've refused to release Mascherano in the first place, he is over 23 and we would've been entitled to say no.

If the player wants to go IMO we should let them there's no point in making players unhappy as they wouldn't be at their peak for us
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think he would have got over it before too long.

On the flip side, we should be able to beat Sunderland away and Middlesbrough at home even without our Olympians.

Red cards count in friendlies don't they, as in they carry over to the domestic league? Cue Rafinha, Messi and Diego getting 3 match bans for violent conduct in the next round of friendlies...

I think rafa will be thinking about Mascherano, if we can get him back. Playing Alonso seriously damages his value, it must be tempting.

                          God i hope not
Barca came across as a bunch of classless ****s: boo hooing all the way to the courts to keep hold of one player. Seriously are they a one man team ? Are they that scared of a 3rd round qualifier that they fear losing with out messi.
Granted we should take ours seriosly but we CAN cope without Bable , Lucas, et al for a couple of weeks - if we can not then we will never challenge for the title.

How many here would have been so easy going on English players putting country before club?
