It is not I agree but something has to be done about Rashid. It's just a recurring theme with him. He only comes here to start feuds.

Rash your entitled to your opinion. Just out of curiosity if you don't think Rafa will deliver what would you do differently if you were manager of LFC? For the record I believe Rafa will deliver and I'll even stick my neck out and say we will win the title this season.Originally posted by Rashid View PostI don't trust Benites to deliver, hence why it seems like I am on a downer. There is no rhyme ot rythm to our play and some of the choice of signings leave me puzzled.Dare we believe

I would buy different players e.g. instead of Barry I would buy a world class wide player - someone like Silva or Quaresma. I'd buy less squad players e.g. instead of Benayoun, Lucas and Babel last summer I'd have spent big on paying the £20m for Augero's release fee for example which has now increased to £50m or on someone of equal ability. If I am to buy players like Lucas I'd play them, not sign more midfielders and block them. Where is the motivation for youngsters to sign for us then?Originally posted by blacky View PostRash your entitled to your opinion. Most of all though I'd appreciate that in a league where you get 3 points for a win, I'd ask the players to play attacking football and would never play two defensive midfielders.
That's just the start.

You mean Scholes and Carrick? Both are play makers with one sitting deep like Alonso. Hargreaves was out most of the season and when he did play he was used at right back, right midfield or instead of Carrick. Rarely did they both play in the middle unless to rest Scholes.Originally posted by dww View PostUnless I'm much mistaken United played two defensive midfield players most of last season.

Am sure we would all do things in our own way but there is no guarantee of success and of course there is the restrictive budget to work with. Personally I would like more worldclass quality in the team but squad depth is equally as important. Look at united for example O Shea, Fletcher, Silvestre all play their part. Just two things. I don't rate Queresma, another showpony like Ronaldo minus the end product and at 20 plus million would be a crazy gamble. Lucas actually developed his game last year and got a lot more games than anyone expected. We will reap the rewards this season IMO.Originally posted by Rashid View PostI would buy different players e.g. instead of Barry I would buy a world class wide player - someone like Silva or Quaresma. Anderson and Carrick played together a lot. I'd class Anderson as more of a defensive midfielder than offensive TBHOriginally posted by Rashid View PostYou mean Scholes and Carrick? But that's the point right there if you count Alonso as not a defensive midfielder then we don't play with two defensive midifelders. So your criticism of Rafa seems slightly odd.Originally posted by Rashid View PostYou mean Scholes and Carrick? Both are play makers with one sitting deep like Alonso. I would say that most people would call Carrick and Alonso's role as defensive midfielders - even if I would normally prefer the term deep lying. I was unfortunately conflating the two in my original post.
Scholes played ahead of two deeper midfielders in a number of games but in most games was used in a United setup which was similar to ours - two deep lying players - one mostly tasked with destructive work the other moving the ball more progressively. Anderson, Carrick and Hargreaves played a lot of games last season and I think the tactical comparison in general is that in this area the two teams are similar."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Also there are quotes from Quaresma about that we talked to him and he didn't want to alter his game so would not come to us. His game is not one which would improve us as it is even if he has the talent to do so - therefore IMO it is a good thing we haven't gone for him.Originally posted by blacky View PostAm sure we would all do things in our own way but there is no guarantee of success and of course there is the restrictive budget to work with. Agree. Quaresma is far too 1-dimensional in the way he plays today.Originally posted by dww View PostAlso there are quotes from Quaresma about that we talked to him and he didn't want to alter his game so would not come to us. I thought the support Xabi got last night was fantastic but I didn't like the Barry chants. I felt the Kop was inadvertently aligning itself with the yanks against Rafa.Originally posted by Sarb24 View PostWell a large number of fans spoke last night...the xabi alonso chants were briiliant. And then there were the 'stick gareth barry up your arse' chants.
It seems from the press the yanks are struggling to finance the deal. Also there are claims they are questioning Rafa’s need for another midfielder. Unfortunately I think they will take the chants last night as strengthening their position – and weakening Rafa.
Hope I’m wrong. Not that I have any great desire personally to see Barry join us but I don’t want Rafa’s authority undermined.
