Simple question for you Rashid, would you prefer it if Rafa went now and we got someone else in?

If all that ****e didn't happen with the owners last winter then I'd have wanted him replaced this summer for a number of reasons:Originally posted by Reece View PostSimple question for you Rashid, would you prefer it if Rafa went now and we got someone else in?
1. He seemed to lose the dressing room last winter and couldn't motivate the team at times of adversity.
2. His style of play is not that of the standard I expect at LFC.
3. He has failed to challenge for the title, even mount a half challenge in 4 years here.
However, he has won the CL and brought some great players these past 18 months so for me he deserves another year to see whether he can crack it here. I don't trust that he can but I am happy for him to prove me wrong. That doesn't mean we can't debate his merits during that time.

My problem witt this is that you are sort of saying Rafa needed an Abramovich, the very "evi" that people were saying they would rather not have at the club as we have Rafa - the man who can win the league on peanuts. Well he hasn't has he? If anyone said Rafa would spent more than United in his first 4 years everyone would be made up not crying for an Abramovich or making up excuses about starting bases.Originally posted by PC Plod View PostRash, you seem like a an intelligent lad, so even if rafa has outspend the Gooners/Scum, why is it so difficult to understand that when you're miles off the pace & going backwards (as we were for the last 2 years of GH), it takes a hell of a lot of time, money, mistakes & patience to catch those teams above you, particularly when 2 of those teams have improved immeasurably.
As for going backwards under GH, I agree, except we finished 4th again last term 4 years later.

For all the stick Rash is getting, it appears that the vast majority on here agree with him on this issue. We need to challenge right to the end this year.
Assuming that finishing 2nd amounts to the same thing (i.e. there is no runaway winner), at the moment it seems over 92% agree that we need to be challenging until May.

Wasn't having a go, just wanted to understand your stance.

I too was worried about Rafa having lost the dressing room in that terrible period last year, but our fantastic form & the demeanour of the playeres in the latter 3rd of the season has alleviated them worries.Originally posted by Rashid View PostMy problem witt this is that you are sort of saying Rafa needed an Abramovich, the very "evi" that people were saying they would rather not have at the club as we have Rafa - the man who can win the league on peanuts. No, I'm saying we have to be realistic in our expectations & not expect to win the Prem, just because we have a fantastic history.

With unprecedented boardroom antics, bad injuries to 2 key players & in the most competive league in the world, where 3 teams finished in the top 4 of the CL & the other was knocked out by us.3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Because he already had a title winning team. Whereas we had, Richie Partridge, Igor Biscan, Djimi Traore, ...Originally posted by Rashid View PostAs for Wenger v Rafa these past four years, Wenger has won **** all but got to a CL final and won an FA Cup on a near enough NET profit budget. Why do we mention money on Rafa's defence but forget in Wenger's?

Not to mention 10 years worth of youth policy development. Rafa has only had the luxury to concentrate on that for 2 as he ahd to sort out the 1st team.Originally posted by El Jefecito View PostBecause he already had a title winning team. You see, this is why I think some of these have an agenda. By their sentence structure, it is clear they aren't stupid, yet still they seem to be unable to comprehend basic facts in an argument & either dismiss them with nonsense or ignore them entirely. The difference is circumstances is hardly rocket science is it?3rd place. Worst champions ever.

I agree, a realistic challenge is an absolute minimum for me this year. I could live with coming 4th if there was only a few points in it and we were in the chase right up to the end, point im making is that we wouldnt have to come 2nd for it to be a title shot.Originally posted by The Erectile Banana View PostWe haven't won the league for eighteen years.
We haven't mounted a realistic title challenge for many years.
Let's mount a realistic title challenge this season and see what happens. Anything more is a bouns, anything else and Rafa is in trouble.
We have a chance of winning the league but so do three other teams who all have more experience of winning it than us. Expecting us to win it is unrealistic. Hoping we can is not.
Anything less, if we're out of it by Xmas, and he's still fecking about with the team and making 6 changes every week, then i believe it'll be time to look elsewhere and that Rafa has maybe taken us as far as he can.If you've lost your faith in love and music the end won't be long
