    Lfc Statement On Gareth Barry.

Liverpool Football Club have today released the following press statement.
Liverpool FC Chief Executive Rick Parry said: "There has been a lot of comment today regarding our position with regards to Gareth Barry.

"This is not about questioning the Manager's judgement or the ability of a particular player. The owners have clearly demonstrated throughout the year they are willing to back Rafa in the transfer market and will continue to do so.

"It is obviously the selling club's prerogative to put whatever price they want on the player, but on this occasion Liverpool think the price quoted is too high."

    Certain to cause war

Parry really has played a blinder this time. I wonder if Barry would be ours now if we hadn't missed the deadline by 15 minutes.

Bang on if you ask me. He's not worth what they are asking.

Much as I like him as a player, I agree with you totally - he is not worth what they are asking.
We are about to rule; again.

We have Alonso already. Rafa will lose the plot with this.

Well let's just hope Xabi can take his pre-season form into games where he is pressed when on the ball.

              In simple translation-

We agree with Rafa that Barry would be a good purchase but we aren't going to pay the ridiculous £18.5m asking price.

Rafa will understand and life will go on. Thats business.

Rafa was too cocky in this whole saga and he has unsettled Barry and pretty much told Alonso that he does not want him anymore. How embarassing this is.

is this about to escalate into something bigger? does this not leave rafa hung out to dry a little bit?

Alonso will show Rafa what a mistake he was going to make

What? Cocky? Don't be silly. Rafa never mentioned Barry in public even once. It was Martin O'Niel who took it public. Rafa has maintained a dignified silence and rightly so.

Oh and there is nothing wrong with our manager telling our midfielder that he hasnt been performing well enough and would be sold at the right price. Thats football. Players come, players go. The manager decides. Alonso is professional enough to understand this

Similar to asking for a sofa but getting a lampshade, except he got no lampshade this time even. Rafa will just have to flog Pennant and Finnan and Voronin and go for a 10m wide player now.

Alonso deserved a kick up the backside and thats what Rafa gave him. So if he now plays a blinder of a season then it's because the manager told him straight he wasn't performing well enough. Rafa was spot on
