It is a hard one but if push comes to shove i would have to go for Barry just because over the past seasons he has been better in the Prem than Alonso but it is a really close decision.

both..but if i'd have to choose rather keep alonso, simply because its a bit too late to give barry the chance to gel in with the rest of the team and we need a strong start to the season!

            Alonso.

While I missed the game on Friday, I'm delighted to hear Alonso got a great reception, but it's disappointing if there were indeed anti-Barry chants sung by the crowd - completely unecessary and unconscionable.

In a team with wingers: Alonso.

In a team with Dirk Kuyt and Robbie Keane: Barry

                Alonso without a doubt

Barry. No time for sentiment. Alonso has been good for us but Barry is much more direct and offers more goals and more assists every season. With Barry taking crosses, corners and set-pieces it would free up Gerrard to attack the penalty box

Alonso, can't see Barry being any more affective than Xabi to be honest.

If he's given more license to go forward he'll get us goals as he's shown in pre-season
We managed to rectify it, though, because it now says, "Cook" where it once said "Cock", and "Pass" where it once said "Piss", so it’s slightly less rude.

                      More direct?

I think Alonso would be just as good playing central midfield with more movement up front. He's the better passer of the ball out the two

I think Mascherano and Alonso is a better combination than Mascherano and Barry

Plus finance wise it makes more sense. Don't think we can make two £18m signings this summer where we know there is little re-sale value in 4 years when the contracts are up. With a new stadium to be built as well, financially it's also better to keep Xabi

Xabi as hes the better player no doubt. Id guess Rafa is as much to blame for his seeming lack of form as anyone because Xabi hasnt had the chance to really go for it. Maybe this year we will see that. Thats my opinion.

Keep Xabi, spend money on someone else (who can attack, dribble, score and take corners).

It'll be interesting to compare results against the previous Barry poll.

Let's see what difference a few pre-season games make

Alonso. He is actually a Liverpool player you know.
