I was refereing to comments about him being worse than Riise last season, I thought I'd quoted them but didn't. Doh!
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Nobody is giving Finnan stick on here. I think we all appreciate that he has been a good servant for the club and probably our best right back in the last 15 years (Ok Marcus Babbel had 1 amazing season) but no doubt he is past his best now. He has slowed down a lot in the last 2 years and now finds himself 3/4th choice. Time to go gracefully

I just think it's true. I have a higher opinion of Riise than many which may explain why I don't see the comparison as 'slagging'. The fact is that he used to be an exceptional rightback with an obvious weakness in the air - now he is merely a decent rightback with a weakness in the air. Last season he looked off the standard we need to progress - in no way should that detract from his contributions in previous seasons.

No that's fair enough, Sorry if I misinturptrated what you were saying.
I also thought Riise took alot of unfair critisism last year too, most of it came about because of the own goal. But personally I would have said Finnan did better than Riise as a whole, he still wasn't playing at the level of his previous seasons, so maybe age or a couple of injuries have caught up with him. But I still think he's worth a place in the squad
