i think darth hit it on the end - EVERY top manager would believe they could be the man to sort out liverpool, plus they know if the won the title - **** me they would instantly become adored and worshipped by what are globally respected as the best fans around.

If i was a manager i'd be thinking - ****ing liverpool, a massive massive club, they are not that far off it and if i win the league for them i'd be a ****ing legend

the only top managers we wouldn't get are obv - ferguson and wenger
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

I'd actually not be so confident, because the top managers are usually found at the top clubs for a reason, and most would be loathe to leave their current positions, unless they had an afinity with the club. Could you see, say, Wenger leaving Arsenal for us? He may respect our club, but he'd not leave his job to come here. Same with other top managers, because they would already be at clubs where success is imminent.

Rafa came here, but apparantly according to some he's not a top manager , he's too defensive minded and clueless in the transfer market. But he is the calibre of manager we will attract, one at a lesser club looking to move onto a big stage.

Yes, but you and I are Liverpool fans, and obviously we'd be biased towards the post. A top manager would have no affinity to Liverpool, and would not immediately come running unless they were in an untenable position or looking for a new challenge.

99% of top managers would consider it? Well, i guess we'll see when Rafa leaves eh?

But even those with no affinity with us would know that:

              1. There is nothing like Anfield anywhere in the world on European night.
              2. We are the most successful English club of all time.
              3. We have spent more money than Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United these past 2 years.

Manager's will see us as a sleeping giant in this league, and a world renouned football club with an amazing European pedigree.

We are one of the top 5 jobs in world football, along with Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan and the Brazil national team job.

I can't argue with that, we are one of the sleeping giants of the footballing world...however, my point is that the top managers will be found at the likes of Madrid, Milan etc for a reason ie they are the best of their profession. Managers at these clubs will not jump at the chance to join us, as they are already at the pinnacle of jobs, and will not leave for us unless there are extenuating circumstances (ie financial constraits, owner disputes, bad relations with players, waning fan support etc).

Who would you all consider to be a top manager?

I'd say top managers or ones who have had success recently are Mourinho and Rijkaard and both would walk to Anfield if offered especially Mourinho. I don't want him due to his dinasour football but he is a good manager all the same.

i dissagree, top managers are the one who have had relative succes for a number of years(ancelotti, lippi, del bosque, hitzfeld, ferguson), not just 4 or 5 years managing a club(s) that could afford any player in the world. espacially rijkaard i don't count as a top manager!

Mourhino would not walk from Inter, he is too proud for that. He may come to us if he succeeds at Inter, but if Rafa were to leave tomorrow he would not join us. My opinion i know, but Inter are similar to us, a sleeping giant capable of so much more. Which is my point, a top manager at a top club will not automatically come if we call.

Rijkaard...hmmmn, not sure he's a top manager myself, any manager that can lose a club like he did has some serious cracks to iron out before he can be considered a true great. He is the sort of manager we could attract, one who is not at a big club...could basically have said to have ultimately failed at a big club, turning it from a great power in his first season into also rans. His team play attractive attacking football, but that doesn't make him great.

****ing hell Rashid, dont go overboard on the praising Liverpool stuff mate or i may just end up liking you!

Seriously though I wouldnt yet class Rijkaard as a top manager, the other names I cant argue with and to be honest im not adverse to taking a gamble with a relatively unknown manager as long as its fairly obvious he is a respected football man with great ideas. Id say examples of this would be Mark Hughes, Ade Boothroyd, kenny Dalglish when he was appointed, that sort of person you know.

In short, yes I do think the club could attract top managers, but I also think the truly outstanding ones (who I imagine are ones who tend to get their own way when dealing with directors etc) would think twice about taking the challenge on given the board room upheavel - having running battles with the baord can't be very attractive to a prospective manager.

Ady Boothroyd plays the worst football I have ever seen, even worse then Houllier. I like matinez at Swansea, a real good manager he is and he is Spanish - he is that guy on Revista De La Liga. I also like Rijkaard as he took Barca (a team losing to Houllier's Liverpool) to 2 La Liga's and 1 CL in his first 3 years.

Liverpool for me is the most romantic club in the world to be with the best fans, a real sleeping giant. I have just been down for 10 years since these "contintental" managers came in expecting to play decent footy and no league challenge or decent style of play has materialised. Our next manager needs to employ pass and move!

Why then do the best managers in the world want to work for Real Madrid, AC Milan and Barcelona where the boardroom rules?

Those teams usually buy very good (expensive) players and thus have very strong squads and for the most part will be challenging for silverware every season, can we say that about our team?
                                We come not to play.
