People are probably trying to sell them more now for this game hoping to make a bit more than normal, being first game of the season n all.

The tickets are for those that are Official Members, I think the tickets are from those returned by Season Tickets holders unable to attend.

It is a Ticket Exchange scheme similar to one ManUre run.

First it sold out then when i came home from work the other night they official site said a few were available again but the phoneline was closed. Then when i called in the morning they were sold out again so i gave up. Now the ****in offal says there are tickets available but the phoneline is closed. School holidays. Always the same for the first game of the season, lots of people are still away. There was uproar a couple of years back when they tried to make the Chmpions League qualifier a condition of getting a ticket for the first group stage game, when hundreds of season ticket holders were still away on holiday at the time of the qualifier and had just put £500 plus up for the season, while fan card holders who turned up to one game were going to get priority over them for the group stage.

There used to be two games a season in the league that always struggled to sell; the first home game of the season, and the first one after New Year. These days they both usually manage to sell out, though there are always plenty of spares knocking about.

Well in my 40-odd years of going to Anfield I disagree completely about the first game in particular struggling to sell out - quite the opposite in fact. Fans are always desperate to see the first home game after three months.

Traditionally the most difficult game of the season to sell out was always the last home game before Christmas, because of people doing last-minute shopping. Not just for Liverpool but for all teams, but even that game seems to sell out nowadays

You must go in different pubs to me - there's always spares galore for the games I mentioned. We had a spare for Saturday in our group until yesterday, and there are always loads going round. As for the new year's game, I remember us playing Newcastle on a Wednesday night after New Year in the mid to late nineties too and there being around 38,000 there....

Just lately our last home game before christmas has tended to be a big one, which might explain why that one sells out these days more often than in your 40 year experience. I think we had the Mancs last year didn't we? I'm sure that's why we had our christmas night out at the previous home game - town's murder after the Manc game.

Bank holiday too on Monday mix that with the kids holidays and money being tight and that is why it may not have sold out as quick.
                              We come not to play.
