Cant understand why people are giving Kuyt such a hard time, there were a right few players who played worse than he did. He also plays a lot better in 4231 than 442.

He is not playing well enough to be in our team. Hard work is not enough at the top. He belongs in a hard working Stoke, Hull, Everton , West Brom, Fulham.

I think it's a bit harsh to be saying "sell him, he's crap" when we're only two matches into the season. If we were to sell everyone who's played **** based on the last two games we'd have no team!

Solid, Nicey, Solid. And thats fine away from home when we need to be compact and defend as a team. But today when Boro went a goal up and got everyone behind the ball, Dirk wins the ball then squares it or passes it back!! That's whats so frustrating. He could take it on himself, but he can't beat a man or whip in a decent cross. If his role is to work his socks off and win the ball...great. But getting the ball on the wing with space to turn and go forward, but instead choosing to pass it back to the full back or square is pretty ineffective. I like him but he's not what the team needs. Neither nor Benny are attacking the full back like they should be. Only Gerrard and Torres seem to have the confidence to go at a fullback knowing they can beat him. If I was up against Dirk he would pass it square.

I hear you and perhaps you are right regarding playing him at home ... but for me he did a job not only on the right but all over the park as usual .. Dosser can beat a man at ease ... top top player .Xabi was gash today and for me was the epicenter of our bad performance ...

When Babel gets back I think he might spend a bit on the bench during the season, but he is a very good squad player and will still have a big future at the club.

To be fair to Xabi he played the full game mid week and may not be back in the swing of things, especially after all the stuff he has had to put up with.

Babel has had to overcome an injury and then has had a busy summer with no real break all summer. Give him time.

I think the team will come good, but I still see the same problems of last year ahead. We need a winger. Iknow titles are win by winning whilst not playing well, but I have yet to see any evidence that we will play well and win for the majority of games. We can dress it up as much as we like, but we were very lucky today. We haven't deserved to win our last three competitive games, but go the required results each time by sheer luck, an away draw and two out of two in the prem.

We must improve, and quickly.

The singling out of Alonso by some on here is shocking. Ya he was poor at times today but he was not the only one. As for set pieces, the manager should see it's not his forte and get someone else on them.
People say when he got pressured he was poor, but when he looks forward only Torres is moving. He carried Gerrard at times too and put the ball in at the end for Keane's knockdown. People are pissed off Barry did not sign and are sticking the knife in at every oppurtunity to Xabi. Bull**** being spouted that Barry is the final piece of the jigsaw when it is blatantly obvious we need investment in the wide areas.
We won and nobody excelled and all some people want to do is knock Alonso. Sad.

That's true, but the point is Kuyt et al were ineffective, Xabi, however, was a liability.

El Jefecito and Lucas play with those same players and yet they don't cough it up like Xabi does.
