we are crying out for a wide man ( cant beleive i'm saying this but a stuart downing type player who stays wide and tries to put crosses in ). gerard and keane can play the riquleme role more effectively in the EPL than riquelme would IMO.

i kinda feel we are lacking in the heading department? now that crouchs gone who will head the balls that go into the box... i can onli tink of torres... others will fail. pacey wide man would be gd.

Lets give Dossena a chance eh. He's barely played 2 games. Arbeloa is doing a good job defensively atleast so no reason why he cant get better and better

well I wouldnt say it is a myth, it is a fact that the width must come from the full backs. It's just that our full backs arent quite up to the standard that we would like.

There are other players of a similar ilk that could perform that kind of role though. Aimar (too late I know), Diego, etc.

I think it would be a waste though I think for our league, you couldn't get anyone better than SG in that role. He's got everything they have and much much more.

Good point and with the south american teams you are always talking about long haul flights and jet lag. Adds a day or two to each trip.
