Big 3 games

OK I know it’s still August but the next 3 games could really shape our season

1. A game to stay in the champs league, after the first leg and our league games so far not straight forward

2. Villa away, Villa will be a top side this season especially at home and with all that has gone on between us this will be a very aggressive environment to perform in. A win here will give us massive confidence and will be an excellent result

3. Scum at home, is there a bigger game? Our chance to put things right, lose against a weakened united and it will raise their game and hit us hard

My feelings are that we will progress tonight but the big game will be villa, get a result and it will take off pressure and add confidence before the scum, I also think the extra qualifier games we have will help us get into our stride quicker (eventually)

It is definitely an important run of games. My feeling is though that these early games always are - not always in pure results terms though - as you need to gain a team pattern and start playing and gaining fluidity. So far we have points but I still worry that we have not been very cohesive. Hopefully with the reintroduction of Mascher and Babel we will start to find our feet. We certainly need to before the United game.

cant see him being thrown in to the starting line up so soon. think we'll stick with babel on the left for a while then slowly bring reira in. i also think rafa will play keane on the right with stevie in the middle.

Agreed. I think winning against Villa and the Scum is the only realistic chance we have of getting ourselves involved in the title race. Anything other than a win against the Scum will massively effect our confidence, the players will once again believe deep down that they arent quite up to it. I personally dont think we have a chance of winning the league until we can comprehensively beat either/both of United and Chelsea.
