Let's not blame Sammy Lee, he has been here 10 minutes but I get what you are saying. The reason why Sammy is here though is because Rafa shares the same philosophies. We needed a wide player in 2004 and after £50m spent buying, we still don't have a decent one in the side. Samir Nasri scored again tonight, that's 2 goals already, he isn't a winger but a top class wide player - he only cost £11m. They don't always cost £50m you know.

But it isn't just about the players, it's also about the instructions they are given. Our style of play is probably the worst of all top teams in Europe.

Why is it 4-4-2?

It's the same as last term, except Gerrard is playing the Mascherano roaming role, and Keane is in Gerrard's role. We are missing Mascherano's tackling and Gerrard's creativeness upfront. The wide areas are clueless as usuall.

The only positive is that we surely can't get worse than the last four games. We're playing piss poor at the moment, however we've still got six points from six, and (at the moment) we've still got a shout in the CL.

WTF has happened to Benayoun? He was fantastic at Racing & West Ham, he had a good season as a squad player last year and a decent pre-season - yet he's been awful in our opening matches.

Kuyt is shocking. I can't understand why Arbeloa is constantly picked above Finnan.

I have not read the thread but ... this team are ****ing possibly one of the most difficult ties at this stage and from what I have seen of them, they are very dangerous, mark tightly and have a very very quick defense ... it is not our right to just turn up and be given the win .. this team have earned my respect and we will have to find a way to beat them simply as ...

He can bollock them at half time and tell them to play with a bit of tempo, offer movement and stop playing so narrow.

He can also bring on Babel, someone with an injection of pace, some power and a goal threat.

I would assume people want him off, because they want to improve the on the field peformance, you know so that we can win, I don't think this game is about providing more evidence for beating Rafa to most of us.

I play Sunday League and it's not that but I have seen players in my league with more skill than Kuyt! I am astonished a team costing this much money can't pass and move. Liege are a good side but that doesn't excuse why we can't pass it and have a pattern of play that isn't clueless.

Let's look at it logically. Liege have is closed down through the middle and have forced us down the wings. They aren't allowing us to play a passing game,

Here you have Yossi playing on left (No a left sided player) and Kuyt playing on the Right (who no matter what Rafa or anybody else thinks isn't a right sided midfielder). For me this totally ****s up any input or contribution our full backs can make to the game.

I'd love to see you pay Sunday league, even if just to hear you tell your gaffer he is totally wrong even down to the colour of his socks at half time

This Torre and Keane are totally isolated, IMO.

I have to agree with Rashid a bit here. We need a wide player, well actually we need wide players! Down both our flanks Aurelio, Arbeloa, Benyoun and Kuyt are quite simply not good enough but more than that something that I have mentioned before is, we are soft as ****e, we just do not know how to battle against a team that harrasses and hassles us.

SL are doing exactly that and on top of that they can play as well and seem to have endless amounts of energy. Thank god they can’t finish (well so far). I hate to say it but if we go out tonight we will have deserved to over the 2 legs but we are still in it and let’s hope for one bit of magic from someone. Then we can regroup, have a look at it again and hopefully sort out our play because let’s be honest it has so far been woeful.

no but rafa is responsible for training, setting the direction of play and making the team play football.

can you honestly think an arsenal/chelsea/man utd team would play like this agaisnt this team?
