    Kuyt & corners

Should take our corners. He's one of the few who puts decent balls into the box, especially when he's not being closed down, like at a corner.

Furthermore, someone needs to teach the lads in the box to actually make runs and move around a bit when the corner's about to come in. Because they're usually static and aside from if the corner taker puts it right onto their bonce, they've no chance of getting a head to it.

Same applies to freekicks from wide areas, even if a ball is put into the danger zone, nobody makes any proper movement or run and it's defended with ease.

    It's getting beyond a joke.

They all need lessons for Big Sami! He's a big miss in set-piece situations

Yup, I noticed several times tonight the players in the box going into the same area and the ball just sailing over them into an area where no red shirt was even in the picture. All the talk of wingers and supplying crosses is pointless if nobody is making runs to meet the ball.

I thought Aurelio's corners were better than the standard fare we get from Gerrard and Alonso, who invariably hit the first man, but Kuyt took the best corner we hit against Boro at the weekend and I can see the argument for him taking them if he's on the pitch - he can't do any worse than the rest of them.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
      Mine angry and defrauded young?

He should get his chance in the next few games as Stevie G will be out for a groin operation

We should just be hitting them back to the edge of the D for somebody to volley. Kyut gets in great positions from corners but his heading leaves a lot to be desired. You should never hit the first man from a corner, its the fare of 8 year olds who can't chip the ball and haven't the power in their legs to kick the ball that far. 5-6 goals from corners would be great or just to be a threat. When we get a corner I just look away. Very envious of Lescott, Lausen and Vidic. You'd think looking at Skrtle that he'd be good at attacking balls in the box.

I actually thought Fabio gave us a much better dimension at set pieces. In fact I cringed everytime SG went near one.

I'm not sure who should take our corners, but there's no excuse for the constant run of dire corners we've been taking, corners are something we can practice over and over again, but the delivery is awful, and I sometimes wonder if we ever practice them in training
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
