Excellent showing last night, brought us to life as an attacking force. Babel should take note of his endeavour and workrate.

I was well pleased with the lad. He was refreshing to see and helped change the game. Hope he gets a start soon.

Or do you want him to run at his man and get to the by-line and whip it in?

Did McManaman run with his head down too? If so, he was the most successful player in terms of assists ever in English football who ran with his head down!

The biggest culprit of running with his head down was Milan Baros. He would pick the ball up on the wing and just run down it even if nobody was in the box rather than hold it up. We saw el Zhar hold the ball up yesterday and on the weekend. Remember how on Saturday he could easily have run down the wing but instead he layed it off to Alonso and this eventually led to Stevie G scoring.

If you have seen el Zhar play for the reserves you will know that he has a great end product. His main strength is getting to the by line and this was evident before he even signed for us.
I disagree with you - I have seen enough of El Zhar to make my own judgement and stand by my views, although I appreciate what you say.

That's the opposite to the impression I've long had of him; can beat people but lacks end product. I also thought he played behind the front man before we signed him?

Pleased to see he's bulked up and made a bit of a leap forward. Highly doubt he will ever be a regular for us, but could well prove a handy squad player.

Yep, everyone is entitled to their opinion hence this debate.

But away from el Zhar, what are your opinions on what traits a winger should have?

He had more effect last night than all of dirks efforts combined this season.

If we'd got the penalty he deserved then nobody would be mentioning dirk as our saviour.

Won't be long before he gets the spirit knocked out of him though. I'm sure rafa and his defensive minder will get him to think of his defensive duties. There was a point last night when auerilio was running with the ball and he stopped to listen to what rafa had to say ffs. sit down rafa and let them play football. its not chess.

Nah not at all. He's a wonderful crosser of the ball and crosses the ball really well when under pressure -go and ask Rafa. He's got a good shot on him as well. This was evident from the under 20's world cup he played in before we signed him.

If you look at him, I actually dont think he has bulked up. He was always was short and powerful - look at pictures of him from a couple of years ago on google

Well you might well persuade me on the end product side of things seeing as he's provided it for the first team since he scored against Cardiff, but I'm not convinced he's always been this powerful. I remember on the couple of occasions I saw him live, though he never shirked he did get knocked about a fair bit - you're right that he's never been feeble but I do think he's gained a bit of upper body strength and tenacity with it. Whatever the case, it's good to see he has that in his locker with it being so essential in the Prem. Got love for the Moroccans so it's great to see one playing well for us - may his progress continue

I'm just chuffed he is getting his chances with the first team.

He looked lively again when he came on last night. Should have won us a peno, but for the ref. Not sure about his BLUE boots though??

Of which very few wingers have all 4 in the world today, & if they did they would command £15mil (20mil euros).

Which we really should have spent on one of these players rather than Keane, IMO.
