No one doubts Keanes' credential, his ability, his record etc etc. What a lot of people are doubting is the fact most of us felt Rafa had found the system that worked (the 4-2-3-1) and the evidence of this working is our form from February onwards last season. But Keane does not fit into this system at all. To play keane we need to go for a 4-4-2. But we've struggled with th 4-4-2 in the last 4 games. Is it coincidence that all of our best play and goals this season have come when Keane has been subbed off?Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostYou can add me to that list, but I'm happy with Keane and think he will do very well.My kebab comes with chilli sauce

You could add that is it a coincidence that we have done better when we have brought on players who add width to our game? I also feel that Keane can play behind Torres in the hole, allowing Gerrard in CM, or out wide if need be.Originally posted by saj View PostNo one doubts Keanes' credential, his ability, his record etc etc. What a lot of people are doubting is the fact most of us felt Rafa had found the system that worked (the 4-2-3-1) and the evidence of this working is our form from February onwards last season. Mascher will bring back the much needed balance to our play in CM. We all know from 2005-2006 that in the premier league Xabi and Gerrard can not play well together in a 442. Why do you think Rafa was trying to sell him?
Mind, I expect us to be much better on the weekend with Mascher and Alonso together. But either way, by the time the Champions League group stages come round we will be firing on all cylinders. If in the mean time we can beat Villa and get at least a point of Man Utd we will be in a great position.Forwards.......

I think with Mascher back we will see a change in style, there was an interview after the Olympics when Rafa was saying having them all back would give him a lot options for formations. Think we will really need to see how it will all work out with Keane when he has the squad to do it.Originally posted by saj View PostNo one doubts Keanes' credential, his ability, his record etc etc. What a lot of people are doubting is the fact most of us felt Rafa had found the system that worked (the 4-2-3-1) and the evidence of this working is our form from February onwards last season. Rafa's game changing match winning inspired substitutions are as a reuslt of us being in a poxy position during a match and having to go for it towards the end. It more despiration stuff than inspired substitutes in my opinion.Originally posted by Laz View PostIt's probably not a total coincidence but Rafa does have one hell of a record for having made substitutions and then the team going on to win a game.
Rafa never does any substitutions before 65/70 minutes even when it is clear that somebody is having a mare or a system isn't working. Very rarely do you see tactic changes at half time and never in the first half. Mourinho would pull somebody off after 25 minutes if things weren't working.*************************

Wrong. Alonso came on for Plessis after 45 minutes v Sunderland. Though I do get your point.Originally posted by billy_mac View PostRafa's game changing match winning inspired substitutions are as a reuslt of us being in a poxy position during a match and having to go for it towards the end. They wouldn't be match winning substitutions if we were in a fantastic position before hand though would they?Originally posted by billy_mac View PostRafa's game changing match winning inspired substitutions are as a reuslt of us being in a poxy position during a match and having to go for it towards the end.
