    Is Torres getting too greedy?

I love the guy, but his performance last night really annoyed me. Everytime he got the ball, whether he was 40 yards from goal or 20 yards from goal he tried to do everything himself. He was shooting when there was no path to the goal, and don't get me started about why he shot with his left, when he should have slotted Babel through late in the game...

Another thing I noticed in the game (and this is not Torres specific) is that when our crosses go into the box, everyone is flat footed, standing still and not MOVING. It was driving me crazy last night.

Here's to a good performance against Villa - I can't take doubting the boys like this...

Yes. Exactly the point i made in the 'Kuyt and corners' thread. It doesnt matter who takes the corners if the guys in the box just stand there. You'd need to drop the ball right on their heads to have any chance of success and it's nigh on impossible.

Torres canbe as greedy as he wants, given that he has to feed of scraps and hardly gets a decent chance in any game, of course he is going to go searching for it and be greedy.

Well not really, because if he had slotted Babel in there was a very good chance that he would have scored. I think the fact that he wants to better his scoring record from last year, may lead to him choosing to shoot when a team mate is in a much better position!

After the rubbish service he'd got all night, and the lack of runs by those around him, I think he was just glad to get the ball at his feet/ Was the same against sunderland and he won it so it's probably fair enough. He just tried to beat too many men, but we know he can do it but sometimes it doesn't come off.

There was a clear chance that Keane could have had in the first half if Torres had given him the ball instead he didn't and ended up running into a Liege defender. I've been wondering about this since the Keane purchase, I just don't think Torres plays well as part of a top two, and I think in all our games now we've scored when Keane has gone off. I'm not saying keane is a bad player just at the moment it's clearly not working.

But against Sunderland he dropped off, found space turned and had a clear shot at goal. Yesterday, it was almost like he was trying to shoot through the couple of defenders that were facing him up...

My point was (although there wasn't really a point) that he did the same wasteful stuff against Sunderland too. He kept going and scored. Got to take the rough with the smooth, nobody's perfect etc etc. Boring myself now.

yep, he was shocking last night, think that mi**** cross into the Kop summed his night up.
But having said that he was heavily marked and had a lot of players to beat whenever he did get the ball. But his touch was poor last night and there were a couple of miscontorls he got away with I just think everyone (expecpt Pepe) is just playing ****e and need a kick up the arse to get going again.

He looks a bit tired and sluggish to me.

Agreed. The other 9 outfield players are not doing enough to support him both in being a goal threat of their own and creating chances.

When they ball advances in the opposition's half, there really isn't an individual threat (Yossi and Kuyt) so we must rely on accurate passing and movement at all times. When we're not passing and moving at a high levelthen the game is up, but then again the oppsosition also knows that Kuyt and Yossi won't dribbl pass them so they just defend against the pass with no need to double up on anyone.

The problems start long before the ball gets to Torres.

yeah I'm certain too. I think he puts himself under a lot of pressure to constnatly come up with the goods.
