    Oh I see your point.

All the same I do think it's pointless after what happened when he played centre mid on Wednesday. Still if having debates that lead nowhere is how you want to spend your time between now and whenever you cease to exist*...

Yes, I think that's fair comment. They're working on that. Playing tomorrow night I believe, if you're in the area.

    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I think we played absolutely brilliant football for the first 60 mins. I really do. The general flow of the ball in first half was probably the best I've seen under Rafa. To say that Gerrard can't play CM because he roams too much or wahtever, is just utter nonsense IMO. If you insist on moving the brightest talent in the team O.O.P., you better make damn sure it's paying off. I'm just not convinced the return is worth while. I think we look better with Gerrard at CM and Alonso on at home and Momo away. For me Gerrard belongs at CM.

I'm afraid I won't be able to attend as I live in Copenhagen.

why "must" Alonso play? apart from his assist and goal against newcastle, he's been absolutely dire this season. With Alonso in his current poor form, sticking Gerrard on the right (or left) does not strengthen the team. Dropping Alonso, putting Gerrad in the middle and Pennant/Garcia on the right WOULD strengthen the team.

Garcia needs to learn how to protect his full back better to play on the right.

You saying you'd advocate dropping Alonso for Pennant/Garcia - IMO that would be ridiculous.

rubbish about Alonso, he started off slow but has started to come into form against Newcastle and had a good game v Spurs. His performance was a little bit down v Gala, but I imagine thats because of Momo being switched out in favour of Gerrard. And come on, putting Garcia in any position isn't going to strengthen the team, not in stability terms anyway.

Bull****. Alonso has had 1 decent performance this season. Don't let sentiment cloud your judgement - he's been way below average for the rest of the time and on merit, doesn't currently deserve to even be on the bench.

I can only assume you haven't watched all our games this season. Do you think Alonso's performances have been below that of say, Pennant? Dearie me.

Doesn't deserve to be on the bench? You've just convinced me that this is a pointless argument. But I'll have one last attempt, he was man of the match in most peoples books in the Newcastle game and a close second or third in the Spurs match. He's started slowly but he's coming into form, as he admits himself, and Rafa has acknowledged. So i'm sure he's going to recover his form, watching from the stands isn't he? Glad you aint managing the team.
