Absolutely - it's great that we've got a centre-back pairing at the club that will be there for a long time. In the short to medium term, it will be whichever combination suits the opposition best. I'd imagine Rafa will pick Agger for the lesser games where we need him to bring the ball out of defence, and Skrtel for the games where we expect the opposition to come at us a bit more. Not that Agger is particularly weak defensively, or Skrtel particularly weak going forward though, just where their relative strengths lie.

I love skrtel but i fancy a combination of a really defensive cb (carra or skrtel) with a ball playing cb like agger.

So for me its Agger No.1 choice then one of Carra or Skrtel.

That said at present id pick Carra at rb and play the other 2 cb as even if its not his best position he is still by miles our best rb.

Team comes first.

Both Carragher and Skrtel are good solid defenders, Agger's ability to bring the ball out from the back compliments this and gives a good balance to the team So i think that puts Agger in pole position, because he is different from the others

Yeah have to say it's a brilliant position to be in, and they're defo our CB partnership of future.

I picked Agger. I agree with an earlier poster about Agger's ball playing and offensive skills actually making him more effective defensively due to keep other team on back foot.
He reminds me of hansen in his laid back but effective style,and for that reason I have to plump for him. Not easy though.

Nice to see that people are having same difficulties as me in choosing, but great choice to have.

I would actually play them now at expense of Carra, only that Carra is without doubt the marshall of the defence, controls how we move as a unit.

It'll be a real bonus if one of skrtel or Agger shows this ability and confidence to lead the defence, then we really will have some combo on our hands going forward.

Have to agree here, also agree with the sentiment that a shirt is there to be lost. As the old saying goes you are only as good as your last game.

I've said before i dont think that Skrtel fella has any faults in his game, ok we should probably wait and see him for a full season but it's hard not to gete excited about him.
He's the perfect defender - strong, quick, aggressive, dominant in the air, good reader of the game, he's also good on the deck.

Sometimes mis-times his headers and gets caught out a little but very rarely.

He's quality.
