That was a ****ing horrendous performance. We could have used the game to try and bridge a bigger gap between ourselves and the Scum and the Chavs. Normal service resumes I guess. No title challenge in six years. Nothing new.

Look guys it can only get better. At least we are joint top and we a bringing a winger in tomorrow who could have a huge impact on our style of play from now on. This poor form could be down to the new players starting to settle so lets see where we are in January. I know it is frustrating but lets just see what happens in the coming months. If we don't challange then fair enough questions need to be asked.

its a lot, lot deeper than that.

the problems are immense. It so similar to the last season of houllier its unreal.

The question is when is it enough?

I think there's a bit of an over-reaction on here. IMO outside of the top 4 Villa are the best side. Saying a point away at Villa is a bad result suggests you expect us to win all 32 games against the none top four sides which is unrealistic.

My problem is with the performance not the result, and I'm dissapointed that because we didn't try to win the game
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

yes maybe a draw will be a acceptlable at villa park this season, but these performances are not.

I agree but all we as fans can do is see what happens in the coming months. 3 games in is no basis for judgment at this moment in time, however i myself am starting to have lingering doubts in my mind. Only time will tell.

We need 7 points out the next three games and then I think we'll all calm down a bit.

                        Man Utd (H), Stoke (H), Everton (A).

If we could sign a couple of wingers then I can see us going places. Riera and the Polish fella look to be good players and could have made the difference in games like today. We didn't stretch Villa and never looked like we could work it through the Villa rear guard.

And whilst people moan that Villa have conceded plenty of goals prior to today, they have also scored plenty. Rafa countered their threat very well. Personnaly I would rather we risked a defeat and went for it, maybe if we had done this last year we would have been better off.

I'd like to get back to the days of attacking teams and letting them worry about us, not us worry about them like today. But we are still joint top.
                        Forwards.......

If there's no title challenge by March/April I can't see any justification for Rafa staying for another year.

Unless he takes us to Rome!

Guy's there is no need to get in to a slanging match as everyone is frustrated with THAT performance and with that in mind there are good cases for both the pro and anti rafa fans but like i said all we can do is support our team and manager until the board think it is time for chance.

We need a change, thats for sure.

5 years on and we haven't improved have we? Players out of position, no real purpose when attacking, playing for a point at Villa Park and making defensive substitutions. Before Torres went off, other than the opening few minutes, we were shocking. No Gerrard, no Torres, no chance, especially with Rafa holding on to the reins.

Wenger has more or less rebuilt his squad for a fraction of what Rafa has and finished above us in the league, playing decent football. Maybe aiming to win the title is beyond us financially, but 3rd place should be ours consistently with the money and base of players we have. Rafa over complicates things and is way too negative. We have no style other than defensive. Games are won on moments of magic from SG or Torres.

I see this being a season like Houllier's penultimate season, the tide is turning and many will lose patience with the lack of premiership progress. Those subs today were mind boggling.

                              Fresh ideas are needed.

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Not the best but I though they were quite a few positives out of today's game.

Dossena was really good, was in and out of the game, but I think we had genuine width when he did manage to get involved.

We kept hold of the ball much better than we have so far this season. We we're far more solid and you didn't ever get the impression we would be over-run as we have these last few games.

Did well from set pieces another thing which had been worrying. Also think Arbeloa did pretty well, Ashley Young was a non-issue in the game, am pleased because Arbeloa has been a bit on and off so far this season.

The attacking unit still hasn't clicked and I guess with Torres going off and SG being out that wasn't likely to happen in this game. I was really hoping that Xabi would step up in this game as he had the extra support of Lucas and El Jefecito around him, a pretty solid platform, but alas it was not to be.

Just need to get the forward line working better and I think we'll be doing OK this year. I still think were 5 or so games away from getting into our groove. So I'll not be worrying overly until then.
