Yes we are bringing a winger in, just like we brought the other wingers like Benny, Babel and Pennant. But where were they......on the bench, while the hard working donkey Kuyt was doing his headless chicken impression on the wing.

Im not only angry about the game its the fact that the same problems are there that have been since rafa has been here and he had the money this summer to sort it out,the spine is there but yet rafa spent all summer chasing another cm, payed over the odds for a striker when we having success playing one up front last season and is now just gambling on another average wide player with the hope he will turn out world class.

If we dont challenge this season then I think rafa should go because even with the money there he cant seem to sign the quality of player required to take us on to the next level.

        Negatives:-
We should be going to these places and attempting to force the issue in search of the win instead of hoping to nick it.

Subs were bizarre and Babel should defo been on for Torres, and at least in ahead of Aurelio on the wing. What must he be thinking now when a lad with no prem experience is asked to lead the line ahead of him.

Torres injury, most likely out of the Scum game

        Positives:

we looked solid at the back and we're level on points at the top of the table after being **** so far this season

Again another good argument for questioning Rafa which is a fair one IMO.

There are very very few similarities to Houllier's last season. That year we lost 3 of our first 8 league games, this year we are joint top after three games. That year we hadn't even qualified through the premiership for the Champions League qualifying round, this year we qualified comfortably. That year we'd signed Diouf, Diao and Cheyrou to add to an already dodgy squad, this year we've signed Macherano and Keane to add to a squad that is infinitely better than Houllier's.

Today was poor, but we are top of the league, level on points or better than all of our main rivals, and by any standards we are nowhere near the depths that we reached at the end of Houllier's reign. You either weren't around then, being a fan of another team, or have no idea what you are talking about.

            My money's on both.

Theres definite issues, i see this going one of 2 ways.
Way 1 - Rafas constant coaching actually hits home and we click as the fluid, counter attacking team we strive to be and thrash most teams on the way to no.19, 20, 21.....

Way 2 - we are out of the race by xmas playing negative football and not using good players in their correct positions, rafa gets sacked and the majority of fans, whilst sad, agree with the decision.

Good luck Rafa. I sincerely mean that.

                1) Defensive approach
                2) Strikers played on the wing
                3) Post match comments making no sense
                4) Reliance on 2 super stars (owen now replaced with torres)
                5) Huge amounts of money wasted on areas that don't need it.

                      1) Qualified for the CL comfortably every year under Rafa
                      2) Won it once and reached the final again
                      3) Our worst player is probably Yossi these days. Back then he'd have been one of our best
                      4) We are top of the league after three games, ahead of Arsenal and the Mancs and level on points with Chelsea
                      5) Money wasted? Where? On almost every player that hasn't made it we've recouped the money we spent, or even made a profit, unlike the Houllier days.

Houllier lost his job because he finished 5th and then scraped 4th. Houllier brought a lot of success to the club and deserved another chance after finishing 5th. After the success Rafa has brought he deserves to be given this season to challenge.

At the moment we are joint top, so far so good. Rafa knew he needed a LW and so it looks like we will get one. Let's start moaning when we are behind the leaders.

we were woeful going forward, no movement or impetus

really disapointing so far this season, performance wise.

we have a few bigs games coming which will make or break our league this season imo

we need to get the attaking balance together and stop playing so predictably.

our big problem before the season was lack of width and it remains the same, will riera fix it?, maybe or maybe the system doesnt allow for decent football,

if gerrard or torres are out for sustained periods, we are fooked

                            1. We finished 5th in his first season, and having to win to qualify isn't "comfortably" especially when it had to be referred to Uefa.

                            2. What did Paisley say about last year?

                            3. Yossi better than Hyypia, Hamann, Owen, Gerrard, Berger, Carragher, et all? He isn't even better than Murphy.

                            4. Top of the league after 3 games? Well done.

                            5. £55m spent on wide players and not one fit to be a regular.

didn't even bother to drag my sorry arse out of bed to watch this match at the pub. reason? because i've come to the conclusion its more entertaining to count the grains of rice in an average packet of uncle bens or pluck the pubes from my ball sack whilst receiting the lords prayer than watch the **** we're consistently being served up.

10 Seasons of negative football overseen by two grand chess masters of the foreign persuasion have finally taken their toll.

                              Its ****.

Time for a lot of the lads - Kuyt, Keane & Alonso especially - to up their game
