    What Tactics Should We Use

Id go for this, I think using 2 center midifelders in stopping us attacking and ithink we need to worry less about our defence as it is good enough to be able to just have Mascherano in front of it. When away against a stronger team, then possibly play 2 defensive midfielders but against most teams i think we should be playing this.

we should try score more goals than the other team
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

I dont even Rate Babel enough to have him Right wing really, i don't think he has the intelligence. Ideally id have Gerard there (and benayoun behind the strikers) but he is wasted there.

Benayoun is light weight and certainly not title winning class. the wide areas and lack of consistent creativity is where the problem is.

In my opinion one of the two defensive midfielders should be box to box, Xabi seems to do it fine for Spain but nor for us, is this due to the pace of the English game? Lucas who did ok yesterday could be this player, he just needs more games and experience.
        We come not to play.

Take out Arbeloa and put Carra there...Bring in Agger for Carra. Then we got 2 hard *******s at the back...2 in the middle(Mash and Gerrard) and 1 up front(torres)..
Balance on the wings...>Two defensive midfielders are stifling our play..

i think our best team - woudl prob be something like this

            -------------reina------------

            -arbeloa---carra----Agger------Dossena

            -------Alonso-------Mascherano

            -Keane-------Gerrard--------Riera

            -------------Torres----------

You could get gerrard and keane to switch, and obv i am hoping this riera(if signed) can actually kick a ball. - unsure about whether agger/skrtel - opted for agger, certainly when playing lesser teams as that midfield/defence should be able to cope and agger will offer more going forward.
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

I am in agreeance with that but we dont have anyone who can do it better on the right. I don't rate Lucas at all, he gets caught on the ball far too often and is too slow both physically and mentally for me (more suited to Italy)

I'll go with that. Although I would like a better right back. Arbeloa offers nothing going forward.

I'd like us to go back to basics sort of.

                  Reina

                  Arbeloa
                  Carra
                  Skrtel
                  Dossena

                  Mascher
                  Xabi

                  Kuyt
                  Gerrard
                  Babel

                  Torres

Play that team for a bit and try and get some confidence, then bed Keane and Riera in, give them time.
                  * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

how about the tactics of playing players in the positions they were bought for.

And how about playing excellent players in their correct position, rather than average ones......(see Voronin, Pennant etc.)

I liked the 4-2-3-1 that we played last year, with Gerrard in behind Torres. He was certainly revelling in that role. I think that in the games against the "easier" teams we could afford to push Gerrard back into the 2 and play Keane in behind Torres.

If this formation is to work though, Rafa needs to let the full backs off the leash. Dossena certainly looks like he could do some damage down the left, though I don't think we have an equivalent for the right side, having not seen Degen play yet.

if we were to line up 4231 we have the right players to fill most of them positions. if we line up 441, 442, 433 or even 352 the same applies. we would not need to use pennant or voronin in any of these formations.

if we're short of players then thats rafa's fault - he should have prioritised these positions this window.

the reason why we're playing crap this season is all about the tactical genius that is rafa nothing else.

Doesn't stop him getting 10 goals and 5 assists in 25 starts and 15 sub appearances.

Doesnt stop Aimar being quality he isnt exactly built.

Play Benayoun in the right position you will reap the awards. Play him as a winger which he is not then just watch him fade.
