    The Owen Conundrum

Apart from reading ****e on Internet forums or what bored journos, to lazy to source a story properly, have wriiten, has anybody on this forum got any REAL proof that Michael Owen ever tried to screw the club.

I read all the stories, wont sign a contract, wants out etc etc, but so have many other players done the same, Keegan, Rush MacMannaman etc.

The reason they were not called Judas is there was no internet **** to spread rumour and gossip in those days, unlike today.

Untill I read or hear the full story about his last 12 months at Anfield, I will always welcome him back with open arms, he gave a lot to this club during his good years and saved us on many occasions.
Those that hid Anne Frank were breaking the law.
Those that killed her, were following the law.

Actually mate, if you read Rushie's autobiography he was called into the office and told that the club had accepted an offer from Juventus. When he flew out to meet the Juve delegates he was told that he would be loaned out immediately to Lazio then in Serie B!!! An agreement was then made to loan him back to Liverpool for a year prior to his move to Juventus

Owen never made his intentions clear that he may want to move, that is not rumour fact. By the time he had decided he wanted a move Liverpool had no choice but to accept a bid for £8m which was way below his market value.

If he had just been upfront from the offset Liverpool would have recieved a fee in the region of £20m.

with a year left on his contract doubt we'd of got much more than 10M IMO

As for screwing the club, he stated he wouldn't go on a free and to a rival.

We have the fact the Stevie wanted out at the end of the Ged's time and when Rafa arrived to realise that behind the scenes it wasn't good.
We also have no idea what if anything Rafa did to keep Owen, it seemed his sale bought Xabi.

As for comming across as looking out for himself, show me a player who doesn't and a club that is loyal to players if they are not good enough?
Its times like these we learn to live again FF

This is exactly what I mean, no disrepect to you, but what gives you the right to stick another nail in his coffin without proving it.

What you have written, I have read before in various forms, by Dunc the drunk and various other "insiders" and few if any ever ever proves themselves right.

Agree on the insiders things, apart from information on lineups it's mostly BS.

I do however remember an interview with Rafa where he said that Owen did have the chance to come here. Quite what it would have taken on Owens part is anyones guess.

But a lot of peoples perceptions of Owen are based on his personality, he seems to be Mr. Corporate, more interested in England than LFC and didn't seem to have a love for the club. Especially when you consider he was playing around the same time as Fowler the contrast between the two was never going to do him any favours.

I would like him back. No longer the player he was, but is still getting into the danger zones if his performance vs. Arsenal is anything to go by.

Insiders. You gotta love them. Could write a book on what they can't tell you, but couldn't cover a matchbook on what they can tell you.

But go on, admit it, it wouldn't be so funny if it didn't ring a little true.

I can understand your anger, but have you any proof from a credible source where he has actually lied and it is not us doing a 2+2 = 5
