Why write a book at 30 at all. This part is stupid and will add spice to the West Ham game. Still going to buy it though.Originally posted by Dr Evil View PostFunny bit i saw on newsnow...hope it's not been quoted already...
When my leg was broken in an horrific tackle by Lucas Neill in September 2003, my mates were ready to hunt him down if I gave the go-ahead.
A few weeks later I received a phone call. “You won’t believe this, Jay. We’re in the Trafford Centre and Lucas Neill is walking straight towards us. What do you reckon?”
Did I really want Neill to take a crack? “There’s only one problem,” added the voice. “Little Davey Thommo is with him.”
That was that. I could hardly let one of my best mates, David Thompson, now a Blackburn player, become a witness to an assault. Besides he’d have recognised the attackers. The impromptu mission was aborted and I sent a text to Thommo telling him Neill should give him a hug of thanks.
As word got back to Blackburn about the near miss, or should that be hit, their coach Terry Darracott, a Scouser, appealed to one of my friends to call the boys off. I agreed. (Daily Mirror)Oh the man is a midfield maestro
and his passes are sooo delightful

It seems to be pretty late compared with some of the other players around, isnt Rooney meant to have 3 out before he is 30 or something idiotic like that? Do agree they should really wait until they retire, they just seem to stir up crap which the teams dont need. Probably the agents going on at them and the greed that is football now a days.Originally posted by JPK View PostWhy write a book at 30 at all. "If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."
I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

We can't have it both ways Shaggy. We can't say how cool the bloke is for being one of us and all that crap.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostYes I thought that was a bit embarrassing.
At the end of the day Carra is a typical scouser. It just so happens that he plays football for Liverpool. We all bang on how he has not been changed by the game and how he keeps his feet firmly on the ground. He has the same mates and the same missus all his life etc.
There are hundreds of lads living in Liverpool whose mate would react in the same way over a lot less that a broken leg, how many times have you been in a City centre bar to be greeted by 'My mate says you're looking at his bird' or whatever.
If anything Carra is being too honest in his book, the people that admired for his honesty are now vilifying him for it. And all these opinions are being put forward after reading extracts from a tabloid, nobody has read the full book yet to form a proper and correct opinion. It isn't like a tabloid to play the game now is it?
**** it, let's sack Rafa at the same time. He's only won 2, drawn 1 and got us into Europe so far this season.Winning an argument on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win you are still a retard!

Rafa liked my aggressive style and wanted me to intimidate rivals and team-mates, says Carragher
By Dave Wood Last updated at 1:45 PM on 04th September 2008
Jamie Carragher has revealed how Rafa Benitez wanted the aggressive defender to be his enforcer both on and off the pitch.
Shortly after taking over at Liverpool, Benitez handed the centre-half a DVDs of Arrigo Sacchi's legendary AC Milan side of the 1980s and asked him to analyse Franco Baresi's movements and organisation of the defence.
The Spaniard also wanted Carragher to inject some toughness into his team-mates - by any means necessary.
After a defeat at Birmingham, Benitez pulled Carragher in after training and told him a story from his Valencia days.
'When members of the squad didn't show the right attitude in the match, the Argentinian players would start a fight in the showers with the team-mates who weren't doing their job,' he said. 'I looked at the manager to make sure it wasn't a joke and could see a glint in his eye. "He's dropping me a hint here" I thought.
"I don't think that's me," I said politely, informing Rafa that verbal rather than physical tormenting of underperforming colleagues was more my scene.
'But it was comforting to know he trusted me enough to give me his blessing to take a swing at some of the players he didn't like.'

Carra's taking some **** for this book, i posted a bit above, interesting what he says a out Rafa and putting the frighteners on under-performing team mates.
. But Collymore and some plank on Talk Sport are discussing a bit from Carra's book about how when Lucas Neil broke Carras leg that time while at Blackburn, Carra and his mates 'seriously' debated hunting him down and giving him a kicking, Carra say's that it went far enough that his mates phoned him one day as they had seen Neil out shopping, they asked Carra to just say the word, if he wanted they would do it there and then.
So Collymore and this guy on Talk sport are making a big deal out of it, you know..like.."So not only do we have the other terrible stuff from Carraghers book, but now we have a professional player admitting that he and his mates seriously considered beating up a fellow pro because of a tackle in a match".
Then adding that the FA will want to read this book very carefully.
This book is going to be a must read.
