Liverpool - negative, nothing to be scared of...

    Mirror

Aston Villa gunning for Liverpool's top four spot says John Carew
    By Mike Walters 2/09/2008

John Carew has branded Liverpool negative, "nothing to be scared of"- and claimed Aston Villa were ready to take their place in the top four.

Carew missed a glorious chance to underline Villa's Champions League potential in Sunday's 0-0 draw against Rafa Benitez's injury-hit side.

"Liverpool put a lot of people behind the ball and were wary of us," said the Norway striker. "It almost looked like they came for a draw.

"The aim is to be in the top four and Liverpool are nothing to be scared of. We shouldn't be scared of having that ambition either. Our squad is stronger and bigger now."

Well from the way we are playing now I think he is 100% right but from the way we played btw Februaury and May last year he is 100% wrong.

He's kind of right, Rafa was blatantly looking at not losing first then anything on top is a bonus. What didn't help is that our two best players and top goalscorers were/got injured.

Villa have a strong squad but don't think they'll break in to the top 4 just yet.
    We come not to play.

We are negative though. Quite sad when we have top attacking players like Gerrard, Torres, Keane and Babel

Gerrard and Babel didn't feature and Torres played all of 28 minutes before being injured. We certainly can play alot better and i have no doubt we will once we have everyone back on board and injury free.

Three of which are not fully fit/injured.

I was referring to our general tactics. If we go for teams we can beat them. We don't though and that's the frustrating thing.

I`ve seen us go for most teams. The smaller clubs tend to park the bus.The Stats are always on our side pertaining to Possession, shots etc.

Sad it has come to this - owners who are cunts, previous owners who are cunts, and a manager whose tactics are from the Howard Wilkinson school.

Were they not at home? If they are such a big team you would have expected for them to throw a bit more forward than they did. Both the tactics were very defensive, hopefully we will show them how a home team is meant to play at Anfield.

They hardly showered Reina with attempts either!
