    So, the window's closed then...

How do we feel about the summer's activity?

Personally, aside from the massive price tag for Keene, I'm happy that we've mostly invested in youth and not bought in too many players to what was mostly a settled squad. We've cleared out some fringe players (but maybe not enough) and kept all our key players - interestingly for the first time in ages it didnt seem like any teams were trying to poach anyone important from us...

Riera looks like he could give us some width and we've enough versatility in the midfield to set out in any number of formations. I would like to see Babbel tried on the right (given he is right footed!!!) but I'm sure Rafa has the guy's future mapped out already.

Anyway, what's the general concensus from the masses? Happy or sad?

Who else should we realistically have brought in??? I'd have loved SWP but don't think he's a Rafa-type player unfortunately.

Hmm Keane's tag does not look that dear in comparison to Berbatov who is only a year younger.

I think everyone will say we did not invest in width and a creative player.

Will Riera cut it - I think the jury's out

I got a tad excited last night when we got linked with Duff and Owen - Don't know why just did.
I make no apologies, this is me

To early to say but if Dossena becomes as good as he has looked in small parts and Riera manages to give us that extra width with Dossena helping then I will be more than happy. Keane will come good, I have no doubt him, Torres and Gerrard can form an excellent understanding with time.

Is it because you're a stretcher bearer or physio and wanted some air-time on the telly?

This isn't a negative post but the only type of player I wanted was a kick ass winger, one pacy, goal threat, creative and a good dead ball specialist.

Did we get him (or her)?

              I don't see it myself.

Dossena whipped in a few good crosses against Villa. Shame there was no-one decent on the end of them.

Rafa is intending for Degen and Dossena to provide some of the "width" that the media are infatuated with.

With Lucas, Masher and Babel away for the first few games and Gerrard playing half fit, we've done well.

Once we get settled, we will kick butt.

fairly happy, would've liked Barry and maybe a right winger but once Keane get's his first goal and think he'll improve no end

That's my only "negative" feeling this window...I feel we still need a top quality winger...but...let's see how this Reira fella does...

Other than that I am pleased with our activity, I still believe Keane will prove a valuable signing when he gets played in position, and Dossena looks like a decent player...Ngog is definately a class signing!

                        Not a bad clearout.

Purchases were mixed. Keane was a reasonable choice, not the best, but we payed 100% too much. Ngog is fine as a squad player, playing some games in the reserves to prove himself, but as a first teamer, crazy. Riera, we'll see, we needed such a player so no complaints there. Dossena looks decent, lovely cross on him, we'll see whether he can actually defend and avoid silly cards. No idea about Degen but don't expect too much.

net spend < 20m and part of the budget came from a loan, of which I don't think we'll be getting many more. Doesn't bode well.

I've got the sneaky feeling he might not see too much of Degen.
