Well I've read a lot of posts on this forum and I rarely post messages but after the idiocy of the transfer window the premier league is now dead to me. The game, yes a game, has now become a festering sess pit of over inflated egos, money, run by people who wouldn't know what a football looked like. We the supporters who have built these clubs are now fodder, a cash cow that has been bled dry.
I always knew this would happen the day the words 'Premier League' were uttered, I don't recognise my club anymore, I certainly can't afford to go as much as I used to, and you know why the atmosphere at most games is quiet, well think of the people who can afford to go to games, correct not the working classes any more. Roy Keane spoke of this in his latter days at that club.
Sorry if I'm banging on a bit here, I've been watching Liverpool Football Club since 1972 and quite frankly it's been emotional to say the least. I'll always back the boys in red to the hilt. Its a shame now that kids can't afford to see their heros in the flesh, I guess we were lucky. But getting back to my first point 'The Premier League' well they can shove it where the sun don't shine quite frankly, and has anybody noticed the standard of football played by some of these so called superstars, deary me I know the game has changed in many ways but a pass to a player is a pass to a player in my book. The more money that pours into the elite clubs the game as a spectacle will die, look at what happened in Italy, we are seeing it now, yep cautious nil nil's lots of defensive midfielders and dire football. Yes because when money is invested so heavily, caution reigns supreme. Talking of cautious does this sound familiar folks.
Also a lot of people keep on banging on about DIC and loadsa money, na not for me. I think we all need to have bit of a sanity check. I'd like our club to be successful but not at that price, haven't we lost enough of our identity. I don't know what the answers are but throwing money about isn't one of them. I also think it would be a good idea to check out the words of our beloved anthem once in a while, they do make good sense.
You'll Never Walk Alone my fellow Liverpool supporters.
