i'm not knocking Robbie but strictly speaking his contribution as a player shouldn't put him anywhere near the top 5 of LFC players.
His achievements are not the only thing where Robbie is concerned, he was just one of us who made it with his naturaly talented feet.

And your last sentence is prob justified, but misplaced all the same when it comes to God.

      5. Barnes
      4. Fowler
      3. Rush
      2. Gerrard
      1. King Kenny

However, I do think that SG has the potential to go ahead of Kenny. If he leads us to the title a few times, I think he may just do it.

There is no way that Fowler comes ahead of Rush or Barnes. Gerrard and Kenny speak for themselves.
        Agreed.

Got to agree with that. And I know they're not the only thing, perhaps not even the main thing when considering players' contributions, but if you take trophies into account...
          .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

            1. Kenny
            2. Gerrard
            3. Rush
            4. Barnes
            5. Fowler

Gerrard will overtake Kenny (for me) in my lifetime.

Grew up seeing Rushie's and Barnesy's exploits and have since seen worthy heirs in Robbie and Gerrard. Remember Kenny's exploits through his legendary status and the fact he was a brilliant manager for us afterwards. So, i would go for that list :

                1. Gerrard
                2. Barnes
                3. Kenny
                4. Rushie
                5. Robbie

Of these 5, Stevie G has impressed me most on ability alone. This guy for me is the greatest LFC player ever.

Well it all depends on which majority of fans voted.
I believe all those who watched Liverpool in 70s and 80s probably voted for King Kenny or Ian Rush to be first and second. If the majority of the voters are glory hunters, Stevie is first without a shadow of a doubt.

Well, it was a bit stupid thing to say, but... From where I come from, only few people were cheering for Liverpool before Istanbul. After that, everyone were suddenly Liverpudlians and suddenly Stevie Gerrard was the best footballer Liverpool ever had (ok, he might be, but they realy don't know anything about LFC or its players). And those people know only Steven Gerrard and Micheal Owen (maybe 1 or 2 more), but thats it. And if they vote, they won't vote for King Kenny or Ian Rush, they'll vote only for Steven 'George' Gerrard and St. Michael. And I believe this is the case in a lot of countries throughout the World.

I've got nothing against them (ok, maybe I have ), I just noticed that.

PS: And I also have to mention this... if Liverpool loses a game, they start cheering for CSKA London or Scum... This is what I meant with 'glory hunters'...

Your point is very valid mate. Am 32 and supported the reds since i was 10 or 12, so i've got vague memories of King Kenny but i truely fell in love about the game of football during the glory years of 1987-88. This team was the best team in the world then, and it was just a shame that we were banned from European competitions because i thing we would have won the European Cup 2 or 3 times successively with that team.

But seen Robbie and Stevie since then and i think that Stevie, ability wise is the best of them all, including King Kenny. Yes, he hasn't won the championship but we are talking about individual players isn't it ? Stevie can improve so much more and by the time he's finished, with Rafa's help, hopefully he'll have 3 or 4 League championships to add to his collection, which will truely make him the best of them all.

It's hard to argue with that. Kenny was sorta before me, and he's a bit of a Celtic legend as well. Whereas Gerrard will be at LFC all his life. Gerrard has grabed us by the scuff of the next and dragged us through countless games. It's unlikely he'll become manager IMO, but all i only need to see him lift the PL trophy aloft before he throned the greatest of all time.

I'm sure Billy Liddel should be in that top five as well. And if we take WshookTK literally then surely Molby deserves the accolade.

Appreciate your point but the law of mathematics states otherwise ... timewise.
