    Torres & Gerrard Passed Fit

Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard have both been passed fit to face Manchester United at Anfield this weekend.

Both players completed a light training session at Melwood this morning and have been included in the squad to take on Alex Ferguson's men tomorrow.

"They are both much better," confirmed Benitez. "They came through a full training session this morning. It wasn't a very hard session, but they will both be in the squad.

"It's important for us to have these two players of quality who can change a game. I'm not surprised they are available because the medical staff have done a good job and the players have been working really hard with the physios to get fit."

Benitez has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the showdown with United, although midfielder Lucas won't be involved after arriving back late from international action during the week.

    from the official.

I'm not sure both of them will start, but if so I'd like to see -

          --------------Reina----------------

          --Arbs---Carra---Agger/Skittles---Doseena

          -------------Masher----------------

          -----Kuyt------Gerrard--------Riera------

          ---------------Keane-----------------
          -------------Torres-----------------

We've seen a not fully fit Torres play before and he does struggle when he's not 100%.

I'd have him on the bench, we won't score for 80+ minutes anyway...

Glad Lucas can't play. I think Rafa would have been tempted to use him and pack the midfield. I still think one or both of SG and Torres might be on the bench. If both are fit:

                  -------------Pepe---------------
                  Arbs-----Carra---Skrtl-----Dossena
                  -------Masch----- -SG------------
                  Babel---------Keane------- --Riera
                  ------------Torres----------------

IMO Kuyt will start ahead of Babel and Aurelio ahead of Dossena.
                  Dare we believe

Got a sneaky feeling/hope that Gerrard may start on the right.

                      I'd like that.

I don't think he will though. I'm going to predict a 4-4-2 with Kuyt right and Riera left. Not what I want but I think it will happen. I dislike Kuyt played deep and think Gerrard breaking from those areas would be ideal against United.

really risky to start both, its too early for it to be truly vital imo and had we been facing a anyone but that lot we would not risk them

anyway, apparently the mancs are risking ronaldo in either this game or against villarreal, hes back in training with the other cunts

                          about to post the same

he's too lightweight for a game like this

No no no no. Now was not the best time to say they are fit. The press conference today would have been an ideal opportunity to throw a red herring or two. Torres was the more likely of the two to recover for the game but Gerrard could have really thrown them off course come Saturday lunchtime.

                              to yukpo,

disagree, if we had taken points of the top four last year we would have been a lot closer.

this is a vital game. league position, confidence of us, confidence of them.

and the chap who said we won't score for 80 mins..well we won't if these two are benched.

                              one of them should start.
