when was the last time anybody won a league or a cup playing this formation anyone know?
in my opinion it can be defensive when needs be with five at the back but also an attacking formation at the same time accomodating two up front.

DWW gave a great response to me at one stage before to counter my arguement for 3-5-2 formation - forget what it was like but he had facts about when the last team to win anything with this formation
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

Also completely tanked Newcastle last year with it, if Torres had his scoring boots on it could have been 10. Defo something I would like to see against some sides.

This is true, but it worked for a few reasons 1) they played with 2 upfront 2) Kaka generally stayed central 3) our extra men in the midfield stopped Pirlo dictating the game as much 4) fullbacks aside they were generally narrow

I'm not sure it would work in the faster premiership, especially seeing as teams tend to go one upfront against us and pack the midfield. Also, the fullbacks need to do a ****load of running to attack and defend and in general its a pretty defensive formation really.

I don't really see what people have against 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1..when we're in posession our fullbacks hug the touchline and so do our forwards, the centrebacks spread and when Agger is playing he pushes on, too..we're attempting to be bold but our lack of composure in the final 3rd is really hindering our fluidity and ball retention at times..we'll get there though

I just don't think we've got a right sided midfielder good enough to play 442 unless we play gerrard there and be done with at. As for 4231, its the same keane isn't mobile enough to play on the right so gerrard will have to move there, even though gerrard and torres seem to link up better than anything i've seen at our club for a long time.

If we played gerrard on the right then either 442 or 4231 would work possibly.
