He's a quality player and very good in tight spaces, an ideal weapon against a side defending deep to mitigate Torres' pace. He may not be the quickest but manages to beat players with his technique. As long as he stretches defences and puts quality balls into the box, I really don't care how he does it, or how he fares in a 50 yard sprint.

I was just thinking - was there a better signing this summer in the PL than Riera? Not that he was the best player (which was probably Deco) but because he has bought balance to our team and improved the performance of others for a relatively small amount of money?

i was so wrong about riera. now if he can drift in a bit more popping up at the far post and get a goal or two (which i'm sure he will) without doubt he will be our best bit of transfer activity all summer.
