Liverpool’s Riera Gets Late Call From Del Bosque
Submitted by Jake Briggs on Wed, 2008-10-08 09:09. Liverpool Premiership Player News
Spain boss Vicente del Bosque has recalled Liverpool winger Albert Riera to the Spanish squad after Sevilla player Diego Capel was forced to withdraw from the squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Estonia and Belgium.
Los Che’s 20-year-old Capel had been struggling with a muscle injury in his right leg and had to pull out of the Tuesday morning training session. After a scan revealed the worst the midfielder headed back to the Mestalla.
Reds winger Riera last played for La Furio Roja in March in a 1-0 friendly win over Italy and was unlucky to miss out on the victorious EURO 2008 squad. With the winger’s impressive form for La Liga side Espanyol last season the catalyst in his summer move to Anfield.
26-year-old Riera has five caps for Spain and has scored once on his debut in a EURO 2008 qualifier against Denmark and will hope to feature for former Real Madrid coach Del Bosque. With the Group 5 leaders hoping to maintain their 100% record in the group against the Estonian’s on Saturday and then the Belgian’s four days later.
There was relief for Del Bosque as Santi Cazorla was able to remain with the squad and continue training, with the winger being forced out of the same session as Capel after a collision with Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

wouldnt pepe be better of injuring Iker Casillas"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.
"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

no just that those i respect the most are people i'd given up on or expected nothing from that proved me wrong. riera appears to be that sort of person. maybe rafa will join this small select group of people.Originally posted by Cormack74 View PostIs it getting older or have you got a new woman ?

Zaki for me.Originally posted by dww View PostI was just thinking - was there a better signing this summer in the PL than Riera? Not that he was the best player (which was probably Deco) but because he has bought balance to our team and improved the performance of others for a relatively small amount of money? The Crushing Machine MKII
