    Gerrard behind Torres

According to Rafa when they played that formation the two of them scored 29 goals in 24 games.

Don't see the benefit of breaking that up if we play 4-2-3-1.

Keane gives us the option to play 4-4-2 (or 4-1-3-1-1 to be exact )

Gerrard told Rafa that he wants to play central midfield, so Rafa got Keane with the intention of going 4-4-2. I don't think he would have changed it if Gerrard hadn't sulked about it.

Gerrard's own quotes from this summer, wish I could find them.

Gerrard will play where Rafa tells him to play, not the other way round.

Gerrard behind Torres doesn't work against the top sides. Torres spends too much of the game with his back to goal being marked well and when he finally gets it on the deck he's usually out on the wing without a target to aim for.

But Torres has gotten next to no service in those games. I'd be looking to the midfield to win more ball and distribute better to the front players before I mess with the understanding between those two players.
