Its not all roses, but its not all doom and gloom either.
    It's not nothing, that's silly.

A lot of last week's hard work though, was undone today.

These things do happen in football, but they happen too often for us to sustain a title challenge and they shouldnt happen that often. This is why people are ****ed off.

To be fair, it was 12 hours ago that i saw the game and i've literally only just watched the highlights back.

We did actually have several chances, so to say we didnt was incorrect on my part. I still maintain however, that we didnt carve out enough clear cut chances. Alonso's effort was a good attempt, but let's be frank, it was a long range shot from 25 yards and we shouldnt need to be relying on that to score against Stoke.

So you think we should be a team full of Messi's, Ronaldo's and Agueros and dribble your way between 10 packed players and walk the ball in the net?

Mate, if a team sets out to defend deep then there's sometimes nothing you can do but take long shots.

I do remember some close range shots and plenty of whipped in crosses in the air and the floor.

Think of Sweden vs Jamaica in the last World Cup.

Where did i mention Messi, Ronaldo and Aguero? Stop putting nonsense into my mouth and let's keep it respectful, shall we?

If you didnt understand what i said, ask - rather than making ridiculous assumptions and then quoting me on them.

There are probably 10 or more teams who will defend deep when they go to Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool. Are you telling me that all Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea will do is take long shots and hope for the best?

Are you implying that all a team has to do is defend deep, in order to stop us scoring?

Because that's all Stoke did. They werent amazing, they were just defending in numbers and fairly organised. Our attacks were slow, and lacked tempo. We'd play from left to right and stretch them, but by the time we'd shifted the ball, they'd all got back into position - because there was no tempo or pace to our attacks. It was all pedestrian and slooooow. Easy to defend against.

If we'd upped the tempo, it would've made it much harder for them. All in all, they were fairly comfortable. They'll employ those same tactics at Arsenal, United and Chelsea. Let's see if they take a point from any of those games.

Oh...and Sweden never played Jamaica in the last world cup.

Look, we scored in the second minute. We bombarded them without luck after that. We didn't play poorly, we just couldn't finish (except the one time we did, it was wrongfully disallowed). We dropped 2 more points. All is not lost. Someone is losing points tomorrow in the Man U v Chelsea match, so either way, we're still among the top in the league and well in reach to win it. My main complaint? We actually won the match. I wish we would have drawn them out of their shell and given them a spell of possession against which we could break, but we had 30 (THIRTY!!!) shots, and only 6 on goal, which is only 20%... not good enough. That said, it should have been 1-0. Robbed of points and I don't care if it should have been 4-0 or 5-0, 1-0 was enough. Let's see how we look in May; If this comes back to haunt us, I'll be furious. If we're 6 points clear at the top, I won't give a toss. We have all to play for; No excuses. Head down and move forward. Lots of football to play.

I try to completely avoid this section of the forum when we drop points, it turns into a zoo.

I didn't see any threads lamenting our lack of wingers last week.

I know exactly what you mean. The truth is we haven't hit top gear yet but we've managed to get away with it so far. Last year Torres would have got a brace but it wasn't to be today. Move on people. Get out and about and enjoy life.

I will not judge riera yet but we still have the same problem in the right back and right wing positions.
We didn't create enough chances to win the game? Or did we miss the chances?
