still not playing well by all accounts. we just need some consistency. really want to see 4231 against the blue ****e on saturday with gerrard behind torres.

we're unbeaten this season while consistently not playing very well (bar the blip against utd - our biggest rivals. who we haven't beaten in ages.) somehow i'm guessing that's not what you mean though.

we scraped past crewe a league 1 team. i'm chuffed for the kids to get through, if only it were the kids we played.

dress it up how you like we're playing poorly and bar the utd game we have been all season - i bet their combined team cost less than lucas or agger.

we should be passing them off the park, not letting them nearly equalise near the end

Rafael Benitez has revealed that Philipp Degen is likely to face a spell on the sidelines after picking up two broken ribs in the Carling Cup win over Crewe.

The Swiss international had to be replaced by Jamie Carragher on 73 minutes and looked to be in some discomfort after suffering the knock in an innocuous looking challenge.

"He has two broken ribs," said Benitez. "He is very unlucky."
