    Plessis

??? i've only seen him a couple of times but from what i've seen so far, he's looked like a complete joke. Has anyone seen him do anything other than balls up a pass, shot or be woefully out of position?? Who scouted him??!

yes he has struggled to live up to the praise of his debut against the Arsenal. He does look a bit like the new Momo/Diao.

He's not setting the world alight by any means and will need to improve a fair bit to have any chance but he had a decent 2nd half last night i thought.
Played better than Lucas anyway, that's not saying much though.

He looked good in the first few first team games he played last season but this season including preseason he looks ****ing ****e, would prefer Spearing get a chance as he actually probably to suceed at this club than Plessis.
I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

He did ok last night but I dont think he has what it takes to play in the Premiership.

He looks very awkward on the ball. He's a poor man's Momo.

He's a useful backup option to Mascherano, but he's just too negative for me. A few times last night he actually moved into the final third of the pitch and had a perfectly good opportunity to have a shot on goal, but he played the usual cautious pass. I think he's a decent player, but he needs to be a bit more offensive occasionally.

Poor man's momo my arse, half of you ****ing monkeys are judging a guy who's played just a hatful of games.

Do any of you actually watch the reserves play??

Watch a few games and then judge him then yeh.

I'm not a fan but like all players he needs a run of games to show what he is about. His career in the first team is too stop start. Just look at Denilson this year at Arsenal and Flamini last year. Both given a good run of games and produced the goods eventually.
I suspect Lucas would be the same.
Oh the man is a midfield maestro
and his passes are sooo delightful

To describe his performances as a complete joke is harsh in the extreme.

He's only a young lad, but he look promising enough, just a bit light weight at the moment, needs a Shankly diet (steak every night)

I think his uber-fantastic debut at Arsenal raised expectations to an unrealistic level and he's struggled since.

Hes so young still and he has the potential.

Everyone was saying that about monster when he came he was playing it to simple but now look. Even though he was unreal still.

Give the lad a chance, he has the height and he is good in the tackle which is what you want in your defensive mid.

I'd agree with that but I actually think he has put in some good performances and been let down by senior players around him a lot. From the little I have seen of him in the first team his game seems to be all about breaking things down and retaining possession. I actually think he has done this quite neatly and tends to give the ball to people in space when he can.

The trouble is his positioning is not yet at the Makelele/Mascher level and he gets caught out and he has often had a static midfield to pass too or the likes of Gerrard looking to bomb on. I think if he had a player like Scholes or Lampard who love to give short options to players but then move the ball forward rapidly he would shine. IMO Lucas is the right sort of player for him to play with but he too currently lacks authority and to ask them to progress together in odd matches here and there seems unfair.
