How we can get number 19

Interesting, it seems obvious but we really do have to raise our game against the Arse, Chavs and 'Those we don't speak of'. The maximium points we have got against them all in a season since 2002 is 6.......

    2002/03
    PREMIER LEAGUE: Man U 83pts, Arsenal 78, Chelsea 67, Liverpool 64
    BIG FOUR LEAGUE: Man U 14pts, Arsenal 7, Liverpool 5, Chelsea 5

    2003/04
    PREMIER LEAGUE: Arsenal 90pts, Chelsea 79, Man U 75, Liverpool 60
    BIG FOUR LEAGUE: Arsenal 14pts, Chelsea 7, Man U 6, Liverpool 6

    2004/05
    PREMIER LEAGUE: Chelsea 95pts, Arsenal 83, Man U 77, Liverpool 58
    BIG FOUR LEAGUE: Chelsea 14pts, Man U 12, Arsenal 5, Liverpool 3

    2005/06
    PREMIER LEAGUE: Chelsea 91pts, Man U 83, Liverpool 82, Arsenal 67
    BIG FOUR LEAGUE: Chelsea 15pts, Man U 11, Liverpool 4, Arsenal 4

    2006/07
    PREMIER LEAGUE: Man U 89pts, Chelsea 83, Liverpool 68, Arsenal 68
    BIG FOUR LEAGUE: Arsenal 14pts, Man U 11, Liverpool 6, Chelsea 5

    2007/08
    PREMIER LEAGUE: Man U 87pts, Chelsea 85, Arsenal 83, Liverpool 76
    BIG FOUR LEAGUE: Man U 13pts, Chelsea 10, Arsenal 6, Liverpool 4

Another 10 points from the remain 5 matches against them this season should be enough according to the above (just in case anyone forgot we got 3 against the Mancs!) .That's as long as we don't do what Arsenal did in 2006/07 raised their game against the big teams but let themselves down against the Evertons, err I mean little clubs.

You're stating the obvious there lad!

We all know what's needed to get number 19, it's a case of actually doing it mate that's the thing.

The win against Utd was a perfect start though.
Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

Always, keep your face to the sun, and shadows will fall behind you.

This is not obvious to everyone on this forum though. You only have to look at some of the comments after the Stoke game to realise that ('what's the point of beating UTD if we then draw with Stoke'!). It was a ****ter but not the end of the World as it seemed to some people. I disagree with your point about us all knowing what it takes to win the league, I certainly didn't know that if we get at least 13 points in the game against the Manc, Chavs and Arse we would almost certainly win the league.

And this was not a pop at Rafa, he does mystify me sometimes with team selections and subs but I'm behind him all the way.

We draw with Stoke, Arsenal lose to Fulham big deal, throughout the season everyone will drop points against so called 'lesser teams' the trick is to beat at least once then not lose to the other big 3 (i.e. win at least 1 of the games against each of the other 3 then ensure we don't lose the return game).
That's what Fergie was banging on about saying Man U couldn't afford to lose against Chelsea because we had already beaten them.
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Well Chelsea (many tip them for the title) drew to bottom club Spurs, we drew to Stoke, Utd to Newcastle, Arsenal are the only one's who haven't dropped points at home and have the playing style to break down anyone no matter how defensive they play.
Not being negative and i hope i'm wrong but can't see us winning the league this year. Too many new players who will need bedding in, disruppted pre-season and the changing of our formation to accomidate players point to a long wait for us to hit a solid run of form.

Not sure I would agree with you, they seem to stumble if a team is well organised and close them down quickly. Thats why teams like Bolton have had such good records against them.

Oh yeah I agree completley, but if a team comes to simply defend (like Stoke did against us) I think they can break them down.

We need to go back in time and stop Moores ever buying Liverpool we need to do it Terminator style. That way we would have won it years ago.

Which we then proceeded to mess up against Stoke.

The point you're missing is that, yes we need to hold our own in the games against manchester, chelsea and arsenal however, it's all dependent on the notion that we've done what we have to do against the lesser sides.

I've heard people say "If we beat the top 3, we'll win the title" and others have said "doesnt matter about the games against the top 3, if we beat all the lesser clubs, we'll win the league"

You say "I certainly didn't know that if we get at least 13 points in the game against the Manc, Chavs and Arse we would almost certainly win the league." - well the fact is, we wouldnt. Not 'almost certainly' at all. If we do the business against the lesser sides AS WELL, then yeah, we'll probably win the title.

But fact is, neither is good enough, without the other.

Spurs and Newcastle arent newcomers to the league and despite their current plights, neither will be relegation fodder either.

Stoke was a shambles of a result, but it's not the end of the world.

However, if that happens 3 or 4 more times this season, our title bid is over.
