Again Craig, I never said it wasn't and clearly stated that, please read my last sentence in my original post and ingrain it in your head! My point is that statistics from the last few seasons show that beating the big teams and not monumentally failing against the little clubs (not just 1 0-0 at home to Stoke) should win you the league. Where as getting 1 point all season against the big ones and then whooping the smaller ones is less likely to win you the league. I'm finding it hard to see where you're going with this!
Of course i see where you're going mate.

Likewise though, if you beat the majority of those 6th-20th, you'll probably amass enough to win the title too. It's obviously silly to say we'd beat all 15 of them home and away (which would be 90 points) it's the general gist of it.

Or you could even break it down to say take 45 points from your home games, win 13 aways and you'll be there or thereabouts.

You could dumb it right down though and simply say beat 6th-20th home and away, and there's your 90 points and league championship title.

If any side achieved that, they could quite easily not give a **** how they perform against the 'top 4'.

Mate what you've wrote isn't wrong but what I'm saying is you are more likely to win the league by beating the top and not ****ing up against the little ones then getting 90 points or there about against the rest and 1 or 2 against the big boys. Anyway its Friday so I'm off to play my favourite game, 'Lager Lager Lets get lashed'. Lets hope we beat the little club tomorrow.
This city has two great football teams – Liverpool and Liverpool reserves

I think the most realistic way of doing it is by winning a couple of your home games against the top 4 and beating most of the lesser sides. So somewhere in between when you and i have said above.

I think we need to take every week as it comes and hope we get better results than our rivals.
Thats how it used to be done.Maybe ManUre and Chelski will drop all 3 points to Stoke and a few other mid table teams we manage to draw or beat.
Until we`re out of the race I`m gonna stay positive and not mourn a draw against Stoke.

Not being negative and i hope i'm wrong but can't see us winning the league this year. Too many new players who will need bedding in, disruppted pre-season and the changing of our formation to accomidate players point to a long wait for us to hit a solid run of form.
Okay, Arsenal did score, but they let a poor team come from behind to beat them. Maybe they aren't as amazing as some people make them out to be.

Sure they have great potential, but I know quite a few gunners who are getting fed up of hearing that word. They have now dropped 6 points against teams they would expect to get a guaranteed 3 points, Fulham and Hull, where we have only really dropped two points against Stoke.

Shows you that nothing is definite in football. As someone mentioned earlier, there will only be a problem if over the season we repeatedly fail to beat those kinds of teams.

                    ------------

As for games against the big 4, the title usually goes to the team with the best record for one reason: They are the best team in the league and will therefore get more points of all the teams, not just the big 4.

The reason that they are important games is that if we win those games it means 6 less points for teams that you are challenging, and the advantages of that are easy to see. Another positive is that you get the belief that you are a better team than the others and start to concentrate on your own game a lot more. And winning as we all know breeds confidence.

I still believe their biggest problem is leadership. I really dont think Wenger is the kind of man to motivate the players, during the days when he actually won stuff he had great captains out on the pitch.
Recently Henry and Gallas just arent the right people to help motivate these youngsters.

I think arsenal are in big trouble and its partly down to wenger's philosophy.

he replaced good experienced players with younger inexperienced players at a time when most people thought they could have done with an older head in midfield alongside fabregas, and another experienced forward or attacking player.

Something has happened at the emirates and on the 606 phone in there were some arsenal fans who were questioning why wenger hadnt spent any serious money in the summer whilst others were backing him with his nurturing of the kids.

its a tough one but with their stadium debts the last thing they need is not to qualify for the champions league. There's a long way to go but this could be a tough season for the gunners.
