He doesn't come on the Friday's 5 Live Sport anymore. Maybe he just comes on Setanta and commentates the odd game on 5 Live.

Consistantly the best pundit on telly and to be fair I thought Mascherano was a waste of money too, thought Sissoko could be coached into that role and saved us £18 million... Don't get me wrong Mascherano has been awesome for us but I still think that would've worked and if you look the way M<omo has played at Juve

Absoloute rubbish. Sissoko has the potential to be a very good player, Mascher ahs the potential to be the best ever. And I mean that. Back in the day a player like Mascherano would have been of little use, now days he's all the rage and he is the best around at the moment.

I can only think of Makalele who was better at the role of DM. Others may refer back to Deschamps. £18m well spent.
        Forwards.......

Granted - Momo could run all day & harrass/tackle almost as well as Mascherano but when it came down to actually passing the ball he is nowhere near the same class as Masch - Momo rarely found a team mate even when he was stood next to him, he needed too much time on the ball to pick his pass; thats why he'll do OK in the slower paced Italian league but not in the Premiership...

RE Claridge being a Liverpool fan; I heard him say it on 'You're on Sky Sports' call in one evening after a CL game....
What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

That's rubbish. I like John Aldridge for his considered and enlightened ability to quietly elaborate on the tactical element behind goals (whether scored for or against Liverpool).
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

Shouldn't this be in the Andy Gray thread?

                Really?? I mean, really?

Mascherano has to be one of, if not the, best holding midfielders in the world. We got £10m for Sissoko when he was slightly on the wane and only paid £8m on top of that for Masch. I agree that Momo is a good player (who has been derided a little unfairly by a lot of our supporters) but if it's a toss-up between Momo and Masch then Javier wins hands down every single time.

He does get on my nerves sometimes though.
