So Riera is one of the great attacking players, just he can't pass or shoot. You sure he meant it as a compliment?

Perfect example of someone letting his fantasies get away with him. He's looking promising, but comparing to the greats is ridiculous at this stage.

If there wasnt so much unfair criticism of some players then I doubt there would be as much over the top support. Football fans treat there teams like a mother treats their kids.
If someone attacks the team then their heckles go up and they start to defend the team no matter what.
As for Riera its far to early to compare him to anyone, but I remember reading he can be the best left winger in Europe when he wants to be. He has looked pretty good so far, should be interesting to see how he gets on when he is used to the other players around him.

Ok, lets try another. Hands up who thinks we're favourites to end that barren run this season?

Yeah, ok Fredo, anyone else? Hmmmm, not a lot of hands there either I'm afraid

OK, one last one. And hands up who thinks we've had a decent start to the season so far and should just enjoy victories over our bitterest rivals and have a bit of hope for what might come? *hands shoot up* Ah, now that's more like it.

There we go, wasn't that fun? We might as well now close the forum for a week.

I don't know where Rashid comes from with his statement that Rafa prefers a long ball game. That's totally ridiculous and devoid of any truth whatsoever!!

This guy isn't gonna be credible whilst posting such non factual stuff like that (and based on his dislike of our manager). When things goes well (like it is right now) he's going back into hypocritical mode and you start to see him giving (faint) praise to Rafa.

Rashid should be associated to a health warning. Good for him he is only a 'figment' of someone's imagination though and that he can't be a real person. He wouldn't be having too many friends.

Fans like to be optimistic as a whole. Otherwise supporting a football team, any football team, would be a very miserable experience for all but very few. Optimism doesn't have to be a bad thing in the grand scheme of life does it?

Riera currently looks like a perfectly reasonable purchase. He might even turn out to be a pretty good one. No need to make a major issue over a simple exaggeration of that really is there?
You don't know many Arsenal fans, do you.

Oh come on Rashid, whos to say Riera wont turn out as good as Zidane? You dont know that he will or wont neither do i. Id say he has all the necessary attributes to be as good as anyone in world football so lets be positive and enjoy our recent successes. Or are you still concentrating on the stoke result?

I dont really think that he has the potential to become as good as Zidane, i just dont like Rashid!

Rash always needs to post something Negative.............If we won the Prem,CL, FA Cup and Carling Cup this season he would still be having a go at Rafa and our style of play FFS

Without mentioning names, this is something someone said on EST1892 on Rafa. I had to read it 3 times and see subsequent replies to realise that he was actually serious.

Rafa trying to push his own agenda of trying to get the fans to get him a new contract.
So Rafa is like Shanks and if he adds goals he is a worthy replacement for Paisley? Bloody hell, Rafa has done OK but he is never in that class and never will be - in fact he isn't better any manager our rivals have - he is just the best we have in the dug-out by the looks of things.

So are we the most knowledgable of fans or the most deluded? Since Houllier came in I am inclined to agree with the latter.

i was critical of riera when he signed from seeing him at city. still early days but he is showing promising signs. the lad needs to get into a few more goalscoring opportunities as he gets more games and he'll be as good a left sided player as any other top 4 team.

yup spot on, the lad has looked very promising and our left hand side does look to have been improved so far. Reira is someone who looks like he has skill and strength in abundence (look at his play in our first goal yesterday perfect example) knows when to do flicks and tricks and offers us some pace and width down the left. But it is so early to start comparing him to Barnes and ZZ.
