Rashid I think you have went too far now. Unbeaten this year and after beating the Manc's and the bitters and you come up with this.

You make good points but they are all negative.
Personally I dont think you are good for any forum. Nothing seems to please you.

Rafa will be here a long long time. Time to get used to it.
Oh the man is a midfield maestro

So Riera is like Zidane and if he adds goals he is a worthy replacement for Barnes? Bloody hell, Riera has done OK but he is never in that class and never will be - in fact he isn't better any wide player our rivals have - he is just the best we have out wide by the looks of things.

So are we the most knowledgable of fans or the most deluded? Since Houllier came in I am inclined to agree with the latter.

**** sake Rasid ... you do talk some sense at times but **** me you are on one huge downer 24/7 .... The Sun will come out tomorrow ..

No Reira will never go close to matching Zidane. ZiZou was the wizard of his generation

And no Rafa does not like to play Long ball. Nothing could be further from the truth. If that was really the case we would have played Crouch regularly and kept him but he never. Instead he insists on good possession and patiently building moves through midfield

          That's nonsense mate.

I'm no formula one driver, but i know how to drive a car.

You dont need to have played football at a 'very high level' to be knowledgeable about it.

As for optimism, my optimism is in my belief that we COULD win the league this year. It doesnt extend to thinking Riera is the new Zidane though

I dont think many people would make that comparison in any serious manner, one bloke on TLW isnt representative of LFC fans in general and as such, it's a silly example to use.

I dont really think that he has the potential to become as good as Zidane, i just dont like Rashid!
There's being positive - and i think Riera has already shown signs of how good a player he is, and i think he'll get better too.

But then there's being vastly over the top, in making a comparison and suggesting a resemblence to one of the greatest players to ever play the game.

The Zidane comparison isnt merely being positive, it's going insanely over the top.

Your white text retains a sense of sanity

The point I am making is that LFC fans are becoming as deluded as the bitters in some cases... we haven't won the league in 18 years and I have to say reading some forums it seems like it's only been 2 years....
With a few more positive posts Rashid you might just make it as a miserable cunt.

If Jesus and the Terminator played football and you combined them with Zidane, you'd have a player like Riera.

Rafa = greatest thinker (in football or outside) ever.

I think that Zidane in his prime would possibly be like Reira, looking class, still struggling a bit with the physical and frenetic pace of the Premiership.

If he scores 10-15 goals a season, he will cement his place IMO and truly be considered a worthy replacement for Barnes

To me, both of the bits in bold are equally over the top and baseless.

To compare him to Zidane and Barnes now, at this stage, after just a few games, is utterly ludicrous. He's shown some nice bits of skill, hasn't looked overawed, and doesn't get out-muscled, but realistically the most you could say at this stage is that he's made a promising start to his LFC career.

Your writing him off as being nowhere near that good and never will be is equally baseless. He's not done much wrong so far, and who knows how good he could become? Ronaldo was a sack of **** with no end product for two years at Utd, and now he's the "best player in the world TM" according to the media.

He is nearly 27 I think.... he is no Ronaldo and never will be.. that's just unfair.

I don't think Riera benefits from any comparisons to other players, he needs to make his own name. I do think that he can offer something that has been missing from the team for a while and that is fluidity. That is he will keep the ball moving quickly and not give the ball away lightly while bringing other players into the game. Some of his neat interchanges and clever short balls to date have given us a taste of what he's about, hopefully he'll improve and be more influential as time goes on. We need someone to oil the machine.
