History would suggest you are correct, but we may as well enjoy it while we still can.

For all the fanfare we still only 6 clear of United who have a game in hand. Chelsea are at the top and Arsenal and Villa are in the mix. But as we usually finish better the fact we have started well as a huge positive.

Another positive is that we have yet to really click into gear, showing only fleeting signs of promise against United and Everton. So we are hardly punching above our weight at present. I can see why people are being positive. In all fairness we have looked just as good as any other team with a chance of winning it.

We may yet have a chance. We just have to hope we can hang on when one of our rivals throw in a ten game winning streak.

excellent point, the less we crow now, the sweeter it will be, I will book a week off work and a bed in casualty if we do manage.

You got to enjoy the ups, had to endure so many downs that it is nice to be in the position we are. Would agree not to go overboard, but a wee bit of crowing should be allowed. I am sure the United fans will be crowing if they get above us again.

Enjoy beating the mancs and everton yes, enjoy individual games of course, but in the context of being contenders, we're not even a sixth of the way through the league campaign.

I know fans who took it as fact that we would win the league every year and were always happy to be top at any point in the league. In all honesty by holding back our praise we really are showing how small time we have become.

I never remember Souness in the press telling fans to curb their expectations and I never remember fans telling others to "relax, there's a long way to go". Are dampened expectations and ridiculous threads on the subject show us up for what we are: A club that has drasticly under achieved since the premierships inception.

It reminds me of Newcastle fans coming out in their droves celebrating signing Owen.

Fair enough not all fans are going to celebrate in the same way and I certainly wouldnt expect us to. Being positive after the start we have had is all good in my eyes and I dont see how it makes us rubbish no marks. If the fans are positive I believe it helps to rub of onto the players as well.
For me I couldnt sit and wait until April before I started to enjoy being close to the top. Lifes to short for that in my eyes and might as well enjoy our success from the start to the finish. We could be 9 points of the lead in 3 matches but thats life, suppose in my eyes its better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. (well it kind of fits the situation)
I certainly wont be going up to mancs and telling them the league is ours, will just have a self satisfying aura about me. Roll on the next match, its great enjoying the football again.
