I used to work in the BBC, and during the news coverage of the 10th anniversary of Hillsborough, Stan rang in to express his thanks for the coverage and to ask if the news team could pass on his best wishes to the families. Always thought he was a nice bloke after that. Mind you, Robbie doesn't have too many nice things to say about him in his book! He wasted a lot of raw talent.
