I dont think anybody is under the illusion that it will be easy, but if ever we had the right kind of start, right kind of fixtures, right kind of squad to have a a very serious go at is, now is the time. Its all set up for the taking, we are in the driving seat, we are not relying on other teams results, lets keep it that way, keep our heads, keep the believe and bring home the baconAnybody who criticizes Klopp ever is a James Blunt. Also we cannout expect results we have to earn them and take them which ever way we can, build momentum and really stamp our superiority as a team, a squad of players, a team of management and fans over the rest of the Lg, we are all in this togetherAnybody who criticizes Klopp ever is a James Blunt. Agree, we will be about there when the season closes, but with so many good teams to compete against, it could go be any position in top-3 (dont' think arsenal will be a real challenge this season). Injuries and suspensions could be a determining factor this season.Originally posted by -V- View PostWe will challenge this year to the end. Whether we win or not i don't know

good idea for a poll. I went with, we will challenge all the way and maybe drop off towards the end.
It's not going to be easy, thats for sure,
I predict Chelsea are going to be there all the way!, united although have had a very poor start will inevitably pick up and be challenging, and i reckon arsenal may drop off a little but still comfortably finish 4th. I think we will have a strong title challenge and hopefully will still be in with a shout with a few games to go - i think the difference will be we have (i think - please correct if wrong) no players who won a major league (prem/spain/italy) in our squad, plus we have noone who has been in a real premiership title battle! - the mancs and chelsea have been consistently in the thick of it over the last 5 years or so and that may well be the difference.
We will only win the league if something amazing happens - either we just find some unreal form and just go like on a couple of 10 games winning streaks and only lose 2 or 3 all season. Or BOTH utd and chelsea completey fall apart.
BUT - i feel we will challenge to the death which is what we all know we need to, and next year we will be stronger!Last edited by PTP; 30-09-08, 11:07 AM.i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

I think something that people have underestimated in the analysis of the league this year is what is happening to the teams in midtable. Last year half the teams downed tools after January - certainly teams like City, Spurs and Portsmouth tailed away badly and it felt like no one cared about most matches. This year with a lot of new owners already in or floating about you might expect a number of teams to be challenging or wanting to challenge and possibly also having money to spend in the case of City.
If everyone gives up like last year I think the order at the end of December will be the order at the end of the season (barring anyone having many games in hand). If they compete then the season might be a lot more interesting.
I agree largely with Shaggy's analysis of who will be in the hunt. For me Arsenal lack the leadership to make it through the Winter unscathed and have an obvious weakness from set pieces (which thankfully we have ridded ourselves of) which will make them vulnerable no matter how well they play."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I think we'll be there at the end, and could finish anywhere in the top three depending on whether we get that little bit of luck or not. Arsenal still seem to be showing the same frailties, and I reckon it will be between us, the Mancs and Chelsea. Chelsea look like the team to beat, but the Mancs always come strong at some point.
If Arsenal don't improve then City could challenge them for fourth.
