Is it just me or are his jeans a bit cheap looking for a £70k p/w footballer?

Thats the style these days -V-, you are meant to spend £200 on a pair of jeans that look like you stole of a homeless man.

Shrek also looks like he is trying to slap Xabi's arse on that photo, while Ronaldinho giggles chidlishly.

Ranieri claims Alonso is too slow for Juve (Well, why try to buy him then??)

Juventus manager Claudio Ranieri has reveled that he nearly signed Xabi Alonso in the summer, but turned down the opportunity because he felt the Liverpool midfielder is too slow.

Alonso had been expected to link-up with the former Chelsea boss, paving the way for Gareth Barry's proposed move to Anfield, but deal never materialised.

Now Ranieri has claimed that his concern over the Spaniard's lack of pace was the reason the deal never happened.

"He was a player we wanted,” Ranieri said.

"But he is a player, who even though he is an extraordinary man and a great professional, left me perplexed by the slowness of his movement in midfield.

"In the midfield of Rafa Benitez’s Liverpool, where all of them are little soldiers, he finds himself in a fantastic position.

"But in our midfield, he would have found it hard to support the midfield line seeing as (Juve wingers) Mauro Camoranesi and Pavel Nedved are not players that come back to give support like Liverpool’s wingers."

and the same story from the bbc site says

Juventus, who signed Denmark's Christian Poulsen from Sevilla instead, currently lie 11th in Serie A with two wins from their first six matches.

L o fuggin L ranieri you drip. if he cannot recognise the class of Alonso then no wonder they are screwing up their season..

I reckon he must be getting some stick from the Juve fans for signing Poulsen instead so this is the best he can come up with.

he is right though xabi is slow
but its a stupid comment to make after actually trying to sign him - surely he wouldnt even enquire if he was that slow

and i have never been xabi,s greatest fan but i am delighted at his form right now

They'd have signed him for 12 million, despite him being too slow to play for them, but not 16 million.

Agree with all above posts, It's just as i thought when i saw the article...it seemed like some sort of an excuse, as if to say, 'don't worry all you Juve fans out there that Alonso could be making a difference to the **** season we are having had we bought him, because he's too slow for us, i..er NOW know this'.
