We are thankfully in a good position to recieve such an injury in that both Agger and Hyypia are experienced in the PL, and both are great players.

Unfortunatly this means we are down to 3 central def. in the CL.

Could see Hyypia starting vs Wigan.

Rafael Benitez has confirmed that Martin Skrtel will have a scan on the knee he twisted during the 3-2 win over Manchester City to determine the full extent of his injury.
The Reds number 37 was carried off the field on a stretcher after collapsing in agony following a clearance on the edge of his own penalty area.

"Martin has twisted his knee and we will have to wait for the scan but we think it could be serious," said Benitez.

"That's the bad news for us today. When a player like Martin is on the ground you know it's serious so we will keep our fingers crossed that it won't be too bad."

            Gutted, completely gutted.
            Poor fella.
            He will be back though.
In the meantime..step up to the plate Danny.

agger has to start should skrtel be out for a while with his injury. IF sami gets the nod over agger then it's time for agger to move on for his own sake.

                Don't agree.
                We need height against Wigan.

Agger is not that strong in the air, Sami should be able to compete with Heskey and Zaki.

you couldn't be more wrong IMO. agger is solid in the air ( of course sami is better in the air but agger isn't exactly the worse ) and zaki and heskey have to much pace for carra and sami to deal with. we need agger to come in and partner carra should skrtel not be fit. against wigan we need someone who can deal with the pace, the airial threat and someone who can play the ball out of defense and that my friend is daniel agger.

                      Well said, very well said.

Besides which we should play our best XI against the likes of Wigan and let them worry about us.

Agger is very good in the air, underrated in that department. We don't need to "protect" him against every half decent striker with some aerial ability. If he handles Drogba, he can handle everyone else.

                        Agger must start against Wigan.

Dossena for Aurelio and I think that will be the team.

According to Elisha_Scott, Skrtel walked onto the bus. Fingers crossed that it is not too bad. Skrtel is too hard to get injured
