Arbs was ****e at the start of the season, he was all over the place in the first few games.

He's been class the last few though. Gets into some great positions

Dossena is fine, he bombs forward, and he looked good when he came on yesterday. He's still getting to grips with the league FFS, give him a chance

I have to say that while I like Arbeloa a lot he still needs to develop in a number of areas and at the minute there has been a lot of discussion about our fullbacks and I think it is justified. Arbeloa is very good at marking, bringing the ball into midfield and is a genuine football player in the sense that his touch and passing are very sound. On the other hand he can be rash in challenges giving away too many cheap free kicks in wide areas, he is often hesitant to cross and at times he is positionally a little wayward.

On balance though he is a very good player who has shown a willingness to learn and improve and I expect him to go on to be an integral part of the team.

Th emost impressive aspect of our full backs this season has been how attacking they have been. This is adding another dimension to our attack and gives the team far more width.

Arbeloa has been especially impressive and looks to have nailed the RB spot for now. Aurelio had a poor game by all accounts yesterday but I would still pick him ahead of Dossena.

Arbeloa is good definsively and does get forward but his final ball is usually woeful. He is a good squad player but I feel we need a better attacking right full back.

He needs to cut out the stupid flipping bookings, picked up another for kicking the ball away, 1 more yellow and he'd suspended.
They've won the league, bigger stars than Dallas, they've got more silver than Buckhingham Palace, no one knows quite what to expect, when the Red Machine's in full effect!

He is in the top 10 dirty players in the league These niggling fouls near the touchline count for something

Well they were much more costly last season when we were **** at defending set plays. this season we have been much better. Hopefully this will not change with the injury to Skrtel.

Solid defensively, decent passer, confident on the ball and a genuine threat going forward, as evident with Torres' first goal this afternoon. He's really making that right back slot his own this season, I doubt Degen will get a game.

How much did Arbeloa cost again ?

Puts the eight million we splashed out on Dossena to shame.
He needs to work on that one. And his crossing.

Apart from that, he is solid enough.

i think he needs to work on the defensive side of his game particularly his positioning which can cause us problems.

Im not totally convinced that he is the answer to our right back position but to give him credit where its due, he looks much much better going forward and we need to see more of that in the coming few weeks.

I think he's still young and hopefully can settle down to become a cracking player for us.

I don't think we will see how good arbeloa really is until we move kuyt away from right wing/midfield. Kuyt does an awful lot of work that makes Arbeloa's life so much easier.

Very good point. Arebloa / Babel combo would leave Alvaro exposed a hell of a lot more I think.

I think Dossena has the capability to be an outstanding full-back, whether or not he can adjust to the premier league and 100mph football remains to be seen which is why he needs to be given a season at least to show what he can do.

Arbeloa has been superb for us and is a player i really rate.
