soccer am - alonso on his team mates

    Team mates - Alonso
    Last updated: 04th October 2008

Each week Soccer AM asks players to dish the dirt on their team mates.

This week it's the turn of Liverpool and Spain midfielder Xabi Alonso.

The Kop favourite was rumoured to be heading for the exit door at Anfield this summer, but stayed at the club after to the delight of all the supporters.

He took time out this week to tell us what his fellow players are really like behind the scenes...

    BEST TRAINER
The best trainer is Sami Hyypia. He's 35 but he still trains better than those come up from the reserves.

    WORST TRAINER
The worst trainer has to be Jermaine Pennant. He doesn't even lace his boots when he trains so he can't train very well!

    QUICKEST PLAYER
I think that is Fernando Torres right now.

    SLOWEST PLAYER
To be honest I have to be one of the slowest for sure, so I'm pretty sure it's me!

    BIGGEST MOANER
Definitely Carra (Jamie Carragher) he's the one that's always right.

    HARD MAN
We have a few hard men but the hardest is probably Martin Skrtel.

    MOST SKILFUL
We're not a particularly skilful team, but maybe Ryan Babel; he's got some great skills.

    LEAST INTELLIGENT
Dirk Kuyt, he's the thickest one!

    WORST TASTE IN MUSIC
In my opinion it would be Ryan Babel. He listens to some Dutch rap which I don't really fancy.

    WORST DRESS SENSE
I would say Carra, he tries hard but he just doesn't get it.

    BEST DANCER
It was Crouchie (Peter Crouch), but now it's between Pepe Reina and Pennant.

AND... WHO'S THE LONGEST IN THE SHOWER
    Pepe Reina... definitely.

its interesting how he says that ryan babel is our most skillful player.

    ahem ...
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

In which case you should have put more effort into the quoting then you could have had a thread all to yourself too

Judging by the rest of the quote he is clearly talking about tricks and the like and Babel always does appear to have that in his locker. The problem is getting him to use that well in game situations.

I'd say he is spot on. We are not particularly skillful.

Passing at pace and movement is a skill.

As for skilful players we have Gerrard, Riera, Torres, Leiva, Babel etc ... I bet you'll see the team 'express themselves' more as we gain confidence.

As I said, passing and moving at pace is a skill in itself and we're very good at that. Our first goal last night was magnificent.

They asked the same question to jimmy bullard when he was at wigan and his answer was something along the lines of.

longest in the shower ? like who takes the most time getting changed ? oh... mmmmm.... pascal is quite errrrr...long yeah pascal is the longest in the shower.

                        comical.

I would say tricks wise, Riera is pretty special and Babel can throw a mean dummy or nutmeg.
