He'll be shattered at the beginning of our most crucial phase of the league challenge. Dark November! And we've got Chelsea away.
What do you expect if we sign the World's best holding midfielder who happens to have won two Olympic gold medals for his country.
    Oh I don't know.

just a pity some of these flights happened to be return

I wouldn't have played him v wigan regardless, alonso and gerrard is enough midfield steel adding masherano to that is overkill against a team that will almost certainly put 10 men behind the ball.

I think Wigan are a better team than a lot of people credit them for. I guess central midfield is not their strong point but I hope the squad don't feel as "it's only Wigan" as a lot of people on here seem to.

With or without the internationals I agree with this. Gerrard and Alonso is plenty in the middle of the park for a team that will come to defend.

Heskey always plays well against us. It'll be difficult, they have some very good players. Their weakness is their defence but they're going to park the bus in their half and try to hit us on the counter.

We'll have to unlock a tight, deep lying defence. We're not very good at that.

                Will be a tough game.

To be fair, you cant begrudge Mascherano on this one, it's a WC qualifier and he'll obviously be picked to play. The Olympics is different for me, but WCQs are non negotiable.

If we can't beat teams like Wigan at home then we don't deserve to win the title, nor will we. The odd slip up such as Stoke is understandable, but we need to win these sorts of games at all costs.

Wigan at home will not be easy, but no premiership game is. And as we are playing better with Alonso and Gerrard I see no need for Mascher either, though he will obviously be needed for the likes of Atletico and Chelsea.
