it should be an easy 1-2, ronaldo then torres even though there is a big case for nando to pip him due to the circumstances i.e 1st season, no pens or free kicks, euro winner etc. If Torres doesnt get at least 2nd ill be blaming Platini!!

Torres was outshone by David Villa in Euro2008 and found it hard to reproduce his club form for the Spain. In a way it was lucky for him that Villa got injured because that meant they then had to play to his strengths and he instantly looked better for it.

It's a toss up between Ronaldo and Torres but I think Ronaldo will win it.

I personally don't agree with that, Villa scored four goals I think but in two games. Torres scored two goals as well in two games. Villa was better against the Russians but Torres was no slouch in that game either and created so much space for Villa. The Russians were very poor as well. And until Villa was injured you could say Spain was playing to his strength and Torres was suffering for that.

In the end Torres was the difference in the final game.

Ronaldo had a better season and should win it. Torres was not that good in the Euros if we're being honest. In fact, had he not scored the winner in the final people would have said he had a very poor tournament. Ronaldo won the league and CL virtually on his own at times for Man Utd. He dragged them through to win in many a game last season. I mean, FFS, a player who played a large majority of his games on the wing getting 40+ goals? Incredible.

But that's football. Guess it depends how much sway the biggest game of all had.
